A form representation of a form is created including an arrangement of form elements with possible data selections from which a form user will make actual selections. A grid representation is automatically created based on the form representation, including an array of cells corresponding to the form elements and the selections and being organized in a first dimension per the arrangement of the form elements and in a second dimension per the possible data selections. Subsequently, (i) properties are identified and property values are assigned to array cells, the property values being user-visible in respective cells in a properties view, and (ii) functions are created for performing calculations using the actual data selections and the property values to yield derived values during use of the form. Events may also be triggered that are defined in the form object.

Techniques for dynamically representing distributed information are disclosed. According to one embodiment, metrics for deployed resources in a predefined environment (e.g., an enterprise) is designed. The metrics includes at least various logic and data sources and is deployed as one or more Metrics Definition Packages (MDP), wherein data sources are used for calculating such metrics. The metrics is defined in terms of the data sources and their associated meta-data, but has no dependency upon specific external systems that are eventually used to populate the data sources when the Metrics Definition Package is executed. The metrics results from the execution of the Metrics Definition Package in accordance with the deployed resources (e.g., storage space, and security means) are represented in what is referred to as a Scorecard Definition Package (SDP) that is designed to represent the metrics results in a dynamic and comprehensible manner.

Method and system for dynamically representing distributed information

Traditionally, a software product is produced through distinctive stages, such as development stage, quality control stage and a production stage, often resulting in difficulty of communications and lack of collaborations among the stages. To provide a true collaborative environment, techniques for creating a model are described. The model, in one perspective, is a collection of instances of environments needed for the stages to achieve a predetermined status of the software product. According to one embodiment, the model includes a plurality of first and second elements. Each of the first elements pertains to one of the instances and each of the second elements represents relationships between or among the first elements. Further the model may include a plurality of third elements, each carrying instructions or data. As a result, a model, accessible by each of the stages, provides a collaborative environment and is applicable to each of the stages, synchronizes changes and facilitates communications among the stages, thus greatly improving collaborations, communications and efficiency of producing the software product.

An operating system independent distributed self-contained dynamic logic system is disclosed. The dynamic logic system enables EO functionality in small edge routers or programmable switches which serve a small population of users instead of the rather large population typically served by a 5ESS or DSM100 central office switch. A disclosed method provides the capability for EO switch enhanced functionality that is programmable from a remote location The dynamic logic system may be implemented across several elements, including a subscriber database called a Service Control Point (SCP), a computer called a Service Management Point (SMP) for controlling and distributing programmable logic to implement EO features, and an Edge Switching Point (ESP) for interacting with a physical device (telephone/data endpoint). The dynamic logic system may be introduced at the &ldquo;intercept&rdquo; layer between the physical edge switching point device, typically a telephone interface, and a routing network. The routing network may be a packet switched network, a traditional Class-4 network. or an equivalent. This intercept receives inputs from both the device, and the routing network. The processing of these events, to create an application, is controlled by distributed logic. The distributed logic is managed by the SMP. The logic is activated by an operator, and is distributed for consumption. The logic is completely self-contained, requiring only subscriber data to execute, which is obtained on a call-by-call basis. In addition to having all the capabilities of traditional EO switching functions, like playing tones, gathering digits, and routing calls, other functionality may be easily added to enhance and add new dimensions to EO switching.
