An information retrieval system, including a natural language parser () for parsing documents of a document space () to identify key terms of each document based on linguistic structure, and for parsing a search query to determine the search term, a feature extractor () for determining an importance score for terms of the document space () based on distribution of the terms in the document space (), an index term generator () for generating index terms using the key terms identified by the parser () and the extractor () and having an importance score above a threshold level, and a query clarifier () for selecting from the index terms, on the basis of the search term, index terms for selecting at least one document from the document space (). A speech recognition engine () is used to generate the query, and a bi-gram language module () generates grammar rules for the speech recognition engine () using the index terms.

Method and system for generating grammar rules

An information resource taxonomy system, including a data collector for collecting information resources from a communications network; and a taxonomy generator for generating a taxonomy represented by a hierarchy of resource clusters, using cluster criteria generated from the collected resources. The system includes an editor for editing the criteria, and a renderer for generating linked document data for displaying the hierarchy. A parallel cluster search system is used to evaluate clusters in parallel. The system also includes a parallel classifier for classifying further collected resources.

Information resource taxonomy

A document categorization system, including a clusterer for generating clusters of related electronic documents based on features extracted from the documents, and a filter module for generating a filter on the basis of the clusters to categorize further documents received by the system. The system may include an editor for manually browsing and modifying the clusters. The categorization of the documents is based on n-grams, which are used to determine significant features of the documents. The system includes a trend analyzer for determining trends of changing document categories over time, and for identifying novel clusters. The system may be implemented as a plug-in module for a spreadsheet application for permitting one-off or ongoing analysis of text entries in a worksheet.

Document categorisation system

A search engine and system for data, such as Internet web pages, including a query analyser for processing a query to assign respective weights to terms of the query and to generate a query vector including the weights, and an index network responsive to the query vector to output at least one index to data in response to the query. The index network is a self-generating neural network built using training examples derived from a feature extractor. The feature extractor is used during both the search and training phase. A clusterer is used to group search results.
