The present invention also provides a process for preparing a catalyst system using the organomagnesium precursor and its use thereof for polymerization of olefins.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing ultra-high molecular weight polyalphaolefin. The process consists of polymerizing alphaolefin monomers using the catalyst system consisting of supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst without internal donor in presence of co-catalyst based on alkyl aluminums. The resulting ultra-high molecular weight polyalphaolefins having intrinsic viscosity &#x2265;10 dL/g are used as drag reducing polymers for increasing throughput in the pipelines by reducing frictional resistance in turbulent flow.

The present invention describes a process of preparing a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising: (i) treating a magnesium metal with an organohalide along with an internal donor to obtain a reaction mixture having solid component (A); (ii) treating the reaction mixture having solid component (A) with an acyl halide to obtain a reaction mixture having solid component (B); and (iii) treating the reaction mixture having solid component (B) of step (ii) with a transition metal compound to obtain the catalyst. Ziegler-Natta catalyst synthesis and process thereof

The present invention provides a liquid organomagnesium precursor having formula {Mg(OR')X}.a{MgX}.b{Mg(OR&#x2032;)}.c{R&#x2032;OH}, wherein R&#x2032; is selected from a hydrocarbon group, X is selected from a halide group, and a:b:c is in range of 0.1-99.8:0.1-99.8:0.1-99.8, and a process for preparing the same. An illustrative example of the claimed process to make the organomagnesium precursor is: At 25&#xb0; C., magnesium (powder or turnings) is added to organohalide, followed by alcohol in toluene. After heating to 90&#xb0; C. and keeping there for 6 h the solution became viscous.

Precursor for catalyst, process for preparing the same and its use thereof

The present invention describes a process for preparation of catalyst component comprising contacting magnesium based precursor along with an internal donor based on phenylene dioates with an acyl halides in a solvent to obtain a solid precatalyst component; and contacting the solid precatalyst component with transition metal compound to obtain the catalyst component.
