A two-way thermo-mechanical shield assembly for a sensor of a heat-producing apparatus having an apparatus housing includes a first shield and a second shield. Each shield is configured to be mounted to the apparatus housing and are together configured to encase the sensor. The first shield is configured to protect the sensor from thermal energy originating internal to the apparatus housing, while the second shield is configured to protect the sensor from physical impact and thermal energy originating external to the apparatus housing.

Two-way thermo-mechanical sensor shield

A press-in-place reinforced seal for an interface between adjacent components, includes a cylindrical structure arranged along a longitudinal axis and characterized by a stepped-shape in a cross-sectional view. The seal is pressed into a first component and compressed by a second component when the seal is installed within the interface. The stepped-shape includes a compliant first section having a first width along the longitudinal axis and a first length orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The first section is compressed by the second component and generates sealing pressure between the first and second components when the seal is installed. The stepped-shape also includes a rigid second section affixed to the first section along the first length for stabilizing the seal structure. The second section has a second width along the longitudinal axis and a second length orthogonal to the longitudinal axis and greater than the first length.

Press-in-place reinforced seal

Limited slip differentials (LSD), methods for making and methods for using such LSDs, and motor vehicles employing an LSD. An LSD for a motor vehicle includes a differential casing that drivingly connects to the driveshaft, and two side gears rotatably mounted inside the casing. Each side gear drivingly connects to a respective axle shaft. One or both side gears includes a respective friction surface. One or more pinion gears are mounted inside the casing and meshingly engaged with the side gears. One or more friction plates are movably mounted inside the casing to selectively engage with and disengage from a friction surface. A centrifugal spring mass, which is mounted to one of the pinion gears, includes circumferentially spaced springs that expand responsive to a predetermined disparity in rotational speed between the side gears and thereby urge the friction plate(s) into engagement with the friction surface(s).

A transmission includes a transmission housing, five co-planar gear sets, a transmission input shaft, an output member, a first and second countershaft, and five synchronizer assemblies. The five synchronizer assemblies are selectively engaged to establish one of at least seven forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio between the transmission input shaft member and the output member.

Manual transmission

A differential assembly for a powertrain of a vehicle includes a differential housing, a differential shaft, and a retainer ring. The differential shaft retains a pair of opposing bevel gears within the differential housing in mesh with a pair of opposing side gears each connected to a half shaft. The retainer ring is disposed on the outside of the differential housing covering the bores in which is fit the differential shaft.
