An ion transport membrane, a heat exchanger, and a recuperator are integrated with a float glass manufacturing process. Only feeds of fuel and air are necessary for producing hot oxygen for a melting furnace and a nitrogen-enriched stream to a float bath. The oxygen and nitrogen are produced on-site without requiring cryogenic distillation.

Ion transport membranes in float glass manufacturing

An apparatus for producing hydrogen from an off-gas originating from a gas to liquid (GTL) process is provided. The apparatus includes a cryogenic distillation column, a first CO shift reactor, a second CO shift reactor, an SMR, and a first and second PSA. The cryogenic distillation column is configured to receive an off-gas and separate it into a light ends and a heavy ends. The first CO shift reactor is configured to receive the light ends and, in the presence of steam, produce additional hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The SMR is configured to receive the heavy ends and convert hydrocarbons within the heavy ends to hydrogen and CO, with the resulting stream then being treated in the second CO shift reactor to produce additional hydrogen and CO. The hydrogen is then captured using the first and second PSAs.

Apparatus for hydrogen production using off-gases from GTL processes

This process includes separating hydrogen from a hydrogen containing stream in at least two sequential palladium membrane purification zones, wherein each purification zone has a permeate side, wherein the permeate side pressure of purification zones are not the same.

An integrated oxy-combustion turboexpander process including producing an enriched carbon dioxide product stream, by combusting a compressed synthetic air stream, including an oxygen-enriched stream and a carbon dioxide recycle stream, with a fuel stream and expanding the combustion stream thereby producing the carbon dioxide recycle stream and an enriched carbon dioxide product stream; producing an essentially pure carbon dioxide product stream, by processing the enriched carbon dioxide product stream into a deoxo methane combustor.

Oxy-combustion turboexpander system

The present invention is a method of integrating oxygen production with blast furnace operation. A heated air stream is introduced to an ion transfer membrane separator, producing a permeate and a retentate. The permeate and the motive stream are introduced into an ejector jet pump producing an oxygen enriched stream. The oxygen enriched stream is introduced into blast furnace. In another embodiment of the present invention, the permeate and a steam motive stream are introduced into an ejector jet pump. Heated air inlet stream is introduced into a cascading series of ion transfer membrane separators, producing a series of permeate streams and a series of retentate streams wherein each retentate stream acts as the input stream for the subsequent ion transfer membrane separator. Thereby producing a series of oxygen enriched streams which are combined and introduced into blast furnace.

Use of oxygen from ion transport membranes in blast furnace

Ion transport membranes are integrated with a glass melting furnace and a float glass bath. Only feeds of air, steam and hydrocarbon are necessary for producing hot oxygen for the melting furnace and a mixture of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen for the float glass bath.

A method for producing hydrogen from an off-gas originating from a gas to liquid (GTL) process is provided. The method includes separating the light ends from the hydrocarbons using a cryogenic distillation column and then processing the light ends and the hydrocarbons to produce additional hydrogen product. The light ends are introduced to a CO shift reactor in the presence of steam to convert CO to COand hydrogen. The hydrocarbons are introduced to a steam methane reformer in the presence of steam to convert hydrocarbons to hydrogen and CO. The resulting stream is treated in a second CO shift reactor to produce additional hydrogen and CO. The hydrogen is then captured using a pressure swing absorber.

Hydrogen production using off-gases from GTL processes

A method for the coproduction of oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen using an ion transport membrane is provided. This method includes separating a compressed, hot air stream in an ion transport membrane, thereby producing a product oxygen stream and a hot nitrogen rich stream; utilizing at least a portion of the hot nitrogen rich stream as a heat source for reforming a hydrocarbons stream, thereby producing a syngas stream and a warm product nitrogen stream; and separating the syngas stream into a product hydrogen stream and a carbon dioxide rich stream.

Coproduction of oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen using ion transport membranes

The present invention provides a process for recovering high purity gaseous hydrogen and high purity gaseous carbon dioxide from a syngas stream by utilizing a hydrogen selective membrane unit and a primary water gas shift reactor in combination with a cryogenic purification unit, a hydrogen recovery unit and a secondary water gas shift reactor or by utilizing a hydrogen membrane/water gas shift reactor in combination with a cryogenic purification unit, a hydrogen recovery unit and a secondary water gas shift reactor. Each of these embodiments may further include a sulfur recovery unit.

Process for recovering hydrogen and carbon dioxide from a syngas stream

The present invention is a method of reducing the carbon dioxide balance from a reformer furnace flue gas to the high pressure syngas exit water gas shift reaction unit. Introducing a heated gas mixture into at least one pre-reforming chamber. The heating being provided by indirect heat exchange with one or more of an SMR furnace flue gas or an SMR furnace syngas introducing the gas mixture into a standard H2 PSA unit, wherein the gas mixture is separated into a hydrogen enriched stream and a PSA tail gas stream; introducing the PSA tail gas stream into a CPU system, wherein the PSA tail gas stream is separated into a carbon dioxide enriched stream, a hydrogen rich stream, and a residual stream, and introducing the residual stream as fuel into the reformer furnace along with natural gas.

Hydrogen production with reduced carbon dioxide generation and complete capture

The present invention is a method of minimizing the emissions of carbon dioxide from a reformer furnace flue gas to the high pressure syngas exit water gas shift reaction unit. Including heating a first gas mixture by indirect heat exchange with one or more of an SMR furnace flue gas or an SMR furnace syngas, further heating the pre-reformed mixture in a primary reformer, thereby generating a second gas mixture comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and a flue gas. Introducing the gas mixture into a standard H2 PSA unit, wherein the gas is separated into a hydrogen enriched stream and a PSA tail gas stream, and introducing PSA feed or tail gas stream into a carbon dioxide removal system, wherein the flue gas is separated into a residual flue gas stream and a carbon dioxide enriched stream.

The present invention provides a process for recovering hydrogen and carbon dioxide from a process stream of a process unit wherein the process stream contains at least carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and methane.

Process for recovering hydrogen and carbon dioxide

The present invention provides a process for recovering gaseous hydrogen and gaseous carbon dioxide from a mixture of hydrocarbons by utilizing a system that includes a reformer unit, an optional water gas shift reactor, and a pressure swing adsorption unit in conjunction with a carbon dioxide purification unit such as a cryogenic purification unit or a catalytic oxidizer. In this process, purified COfrom the COpurification unit is used as a co-feed/co-purge in the pressure swing adsorption unit in order to produce a COtail gas that includes a higher concentration of CO.

A process for improving the thermodynamic efficiency of a hydrogen generation system is provided. This includes producing a syngas stream in a reformer, wherein the reformer has a combustion zone. This also includes introducing a syngas stream into a pressure swing adsorption unit, thereby producing a product hydrogen stream and a tail gas stream. This also includes heating the tail gas stream by indirect heat exchange with a heat source, thereby producing a heated tail gas stream; and introducing the heated tail gas stream into the combustion zone.

This process includes compressing a flue gas to a first pressure, cooling the flue gas to a first temperature, and drying flue gas by a drying means. This process includes adsorbing COin a first adsorbent bed, wherein the first adsorbent bed is isothermally maintained by a first cooling means. The process includes pressurizing the first adsorbent bed to a second pressure with COat a second temperature, wherein the second pressure is greater than the initial pressure, wherein the second temperature is greater than the initial temperature.
