According to certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node comprises broadcasting system information to wireless devices. The system information indicates a set of configured random access carriers. The method further comprises selecting, from the set of configured random access carriers, a random access carrier to be used by a wireless device when performing random access transmissions, and indicating the selected random access carrier to the wireless device.

DCI formats for non-anchor operations

A method implemented by a user equipment for adjusting a coverage enhancement (CE) level according to which the user equipment operates in a wireless communication system is presented. The method comprises determining a difference between a device-calculated CE level calculated by the user equipment and a network-derived CE level received from a radio network node. The method further comprises adjusting, by the difference, an updated device-calculated CE level calculated after the device-calculated CE level, to obtain an adjusted CE level and operating according to the adjusted CE level.

Adaptive beam selection in a wireless communication system

A user equipment is configured for use in a wireless communication system. The user equipment in particular is configured to receive from a base station one or more configuration messages that indicate a pattern of downlink transmission gaps in time. The user equipment is further configured to receive from the base station a scheduled downlink transmission that comprises a downlink data block and one or more repetitions of the downlink data block. The scheduled downlink transmission is received with downlink transmission gaps therein according to the indicated pattern. Alternatively or additionally, the user equipment is configured to transmit a scheduled uplink transmission that comprises an uplink data block and one or more repetitions of the uplink data block. In this case, the scheduled uplink transmission is transmitted with uplink transmission gaps therein according to an uplink transmission gap pattern that specifies a pattern of uplink transmission gaps in time.

Transmission and reception of a data block in a wireless communication system

A method in a UE comprises monitoring a downlink control channel during a duration of at least a first timer, and receiving an indication of a downlink or uplink transmission for the UE. The method comprises after receiving the indication of the downlink or uplink transmission for the UE, stopping monitoring the first timer, wherein after the first timer is stopped the UE does not need to monitor the downlink control channel. The method comprises performing an uplink transmission associated with the indicated downlink or uplink transmission for the UE. The method comprises starting a second timer after receiving the indication for the downlink or uplink transmission for the UE, the duration of the second timer comprising an offset period, and, when the second timer expires, starting a third timer. The UE monitors the downlink control channel for the duration of the third timer.

Method for controlling connected mode DRX operations

According to some embodiments, a method for use in a user equipment (UE) comprises receiving a plurality of weights for assigning paging physical resource blocks (PRBs) to a plurality of UEs. Each weight is associated with a respective paging PRB. The method further comprises determining a paging PRB for the UE using at least one weight of the plurality of weights, and receiving paging on the determined paging PRB. In particular embodiments, determining the paging PRB for the UE comprises assigning the UE to an artificial paging PRB of a set of artificial paging PRBs, and mapping the artificial paging PRB to an actual paging PRB of a set of actual paging PRBs using at least one weight of the plurality of weights. The set of actual paging PRBs includes a smaller number of paging PRBs than the set of artificial paging PRBs.

Uneven paging load distribution for narrowband

A radio device () and/or network node () support multiple HARQ processes. In particular, responsive to the radio device () receiving a resource grant for a first HARQ process, the radio device () starts or restarts a timer that configures the radio device () to monitor for a resource grant of a second HARQ process. Configuration of a connection

A wireless device and a method therein for performing a transmission at a changed Coverage Enhancement (CE) level in a random access procedure. The wireless device receives a random access order indicating a first preamble and a first carrier. Further, the wireless device transmits, to a network node, the first preamble on the first carrier using a first CE level. In the absence of a valid response after a number of transmissions, the wireless device determines a second CE level that is different from the first CE level. Thereafter, the wireless device selects, in a predictable way for the network node, a carrier that is supporting the second CE level, and transmits, to the network node, a preamble on the carrier using the second CE level.

Wireless device, a network node and methods therein for transmission at a changed coverage enhancement (CE) level in a random access procedure

Method performed by a network node in communication with a first wireless device. The network node and the first wireless device operate in a wireless communications network. The network node determines whether or not a random access procedure for the first wireless device was successful. The determining is performed after the following actions in the random access procedure: a) a first Physical Downlink Control Channel, PDCCH, order indicating a non-reserved signal has been sent to the first wireless device, the signal being one of: a preamble, a tone and a subcarrier, and b) an L2/L3 message has been received after the sending of the first PDCCH order. The determining is based on verifying whether or not the L2/L3 message originated in the first wireless device.

Network node and methods for determining success of a random access procedure

The invention proposes a user equipment, UE, configuring a paging carrier, wherein the UE performs the steps of monitoring a first paging carrier for paging messages, receiving a message from a network node, the message comprising paging carrier information indicating a second paging carrier selected by the network node or a further network node, wherein the second paging carrier is different from the first paging carrier, and in response to receiving the message, monitoring the second paging carrier for paging messages; further the invention proposes corresponding network nodes; further the invention proposes corresponding methods for the UE and the network nodes.

Paging carrier assignment for narrowband radio communication system

A wireless device is configured to perform a random access procedure for random access by the wireless device to a wireless communication system. The random access procedure includes multiple messages in sequence. The wireless device is configured to determine a carrier on which a downlink message in the random access procedure is to be received by the wireless device, from amongst multiple different carriers which are configurable as said carrier, based on configuration information received from a radio network node indicating said carrier. The downlink message occurs in the random access procedure subsequent to an initial message in the sequence. The wireless device is also configured to receive the downlink message on the determined carrier.

Carrier configuration for random access

The present invention pertains to a network entity, wireless radio device, a method of controlling a network entity and a method of controlling a wireless radio device. The network entity is operative to control a first carrier arranged to serve at least a first group of wireless radio devices and a second carrier arranged to serve at least a second group of wireless radio devices. Systems and methods of determining a frequency resource for a wireless device to operate in a wireless communication system. In one exemplary embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device in a first wireless communication system for determining a frequency resource on which to operate comprises determining whether a parameter is received via dedicated control signaling in the first wireless communication system. Further, a value of the parameter indicates one or more frequency resources in which the first wireless communication system operates. In response to determining that the parameter is received via the dedicated control signaling in the first wireless communication system, the method includes configuring the wireless device to operate on a frequency resource whose location is defined based on the parameter received via such dedicated control signaling.
