In one embodiment, a current context of a mobile device may be ascertained, where the current context includes an indication of a last application opened via the mobile device, wherein the last application opened is one of a plurality of applications installed on the mobile device. A probability, for each of the plurality of applications, that a user of the mobile device will use the corresponding application under the current context may be determined, where the probability for at least a portion of the plurality of applications is determined by applying a computer-generated model to the current context. One or more of the plurality of the applications may be identified based, at least in part, upon the probability, for each one of the plurality of applications, that the user of the mobile device will use the corresponding application.

In one embodiment, a current context of a mobile device may be ascertained, where the current context includes an indication of a last application opened via the mobile device, wherein the last application opened is one of a plurality of applications installed on the mobile device. A probability, for each of the plurality of applications, that a user of the mobile device will use the corresponding application under the current context may be determined, where the probability for at least a portion of the plurality of applications is determined by applying a computer-generated model to the current context, wherein the computer-generated model is associated with the mobile device. One or more of the plurality of the applications may be identified based, at least in part, upon the probability, for each one of the plurality of applications, that the user of the mobile device will use the corresponding application.

Disclosed is a system and method for displaying search results upon the occurrence or detection of an event and/or time-delay. The present provides a user with the ability to view search results upon satisfaction of an event trigger or specified time delay (e.g., a rule). The disclosed systems and methods enable features that allow a user to link a search query and/or a set or sets of results for the search query to a trigger, whereby upon detection and satisfaction of such trigger, the search (and/or related results) are displayed. Such trigger can be associated with, but not limited to, a calendar event, to-do list item, location, a product or contact person, among other types of event based information events.

Display media configured to receive projected content are described herein. In some instances, a display medium may be a non-powered object that a user may hold and move in different ways through a room or other environment. The display medium may be formed to fit into the user's hand and include elements that provide information to accurately project an image onto the display medium or to perform other actions.

A user may input one or more messages (e.g., visual or audio content) with respect to a projection device that is to project the messages to users within an environment. The user may additionally input related information that dictates a context and manner in which the messages are to be projected. The projection device may monitor the environment to identify users, events or actions within the environment. Upon detecting and identifying a particular user, the projection device may visually project the messages onto a surface within the environment, or may audibly output the messages within the environment, which may convey a particular meaning to that user. Optionally, the projection device may authenticate the user in order to determine that the user is the intended recipient of the messages.

Projecting content within an environment

A projection and camera system creates an augmented reality environment in which images are projected onto a scene and user movement within the scene is captured. The system assists the user in performing various activities, such as productivity tasks, routine household tasks, and creative tasks. Predefined activity templates contain projectable patterns that, when projected into the environment in a certain sequence, guide the user through the activities.

Described herein are systems and techniques for projecting content, periodically or continuously, onto a rear surface of a display medium from behind. The rear projected image is presented on an opposing or front surface of the display medium to a human audience for viewing. Additionally, non-visible light (e.g., IR light) is passed through the display medium to an area in front of the medium. The non-visible light is used to detect human gestures. In this manner, the rear projection arrangement avoids viewer obstruction during projection, yet detects and recognizes gestures made by the viewer in front of the display medium.

Described herein are systems and techniques for projecting content, periodically or continuously, onto a rear surface of a display medium from behind. The rear projected image is presented on an opposing or front surface of the display medium to a human audience for viewing. Additionally, non-visible light (e.g., IR light) is passed through the display medium to an area in front of the medium. The non-visible light is used to detect human gestures. In this manner, the rear projection arrangement avoids viewer obstruction during projection, yet detects and recognizes gestures made by the viewer in front of the display medium. In one implementation, the display medium comprises a thin sheet of transparent plastic material with arrays of curved optical features to redirect light received on the rear surface out the front surface toward the human audience.

Described herein are systems and techniques for periodically projecting content onto a display medium that is configured to display images for a finite amount of time, during which time the images decay until the image substantially or entirely disappears from the display medium. That is, the systems and techniques may project light onto the display medium, with the light energizing particles of the display medium to display a predefined image.

A partially collapsing hierarchical display system aids information navigation by providing a dynamic mechanism for labeling items with one or more states. In one embodiment, states comprise 'hidden', 'visible' and &#x201c;unmarked&#x201d;. An expanded list of items displays all items. A partially expanded list of items displays all visible and unmarked items, removing hidden items from the display. A further collapsed list of items displays all visible items. A completely collapsed list of items hides all items. Users customize the amount of detail displayed in a sub-tree, reducing the display size of the sub-tree. Expansion of a hierarchical structure is combined with filtering, allowing users to partially collapse or partially expand a sub-tree structure. Partially collapsed lists comprise one or more focus points, allowing users to view several relevant sections of a hierarchical structure concurrently. Displayed sizes or other visual characteristics of items within the hierarchical structure are automatically adjusted to reflect the states designated by the user.

A system for identification and tracking of a tag distributed in a room is presented. A laser base station is configured to scan laser beams through a portion of a room. A tag is configured to be reactive to incident laser beams scanned from the laser base station to provide a data signal back to the laser base station. A tag tracking system is configured to receive input derived from the data signal from the laser base station. The tag tracking system stores state records of position and informational content of the tag generated from the input. The tag tracking system determines angular position of the tag with respect to the laser base station based on the position and information content of the tag stored in the state records.

A system for N-space navigation of digital data sets. The system includes an electronic tag having a digitally readable identifier, an electronic tag reader configured to read the identifier of the electronic tag, and a computing system connected to the electronic tag reader to provide digital navigation services of N-space data sets in response to reading the identifier of the electronic tag. A method for inputting information to a device connected to a deformable piece includes the steps of manipulating the deformable piece to provide a first morpheme input to the device. The first morpheme input normally triggers a first default action by the device, such as controlling a display, modifying a data structure, or communicating with another electronic device. When a user asynchronously manipulates the deformable piece to provide a second morpheme input to the device, the second morpheme input converts the normally triggered first default action to a second action generally not equivalent to the first default action. This mode of interaction allows formation of morphemic sentences to control a graspable device.
