A coating composition for a base paper is described. The coating composition comprises a porous clay and an ink pigment fixation agent. The porous clay comprises an alumina-silicate, and has a surface area from 100 m2/g to 400 m2/g.

Coating composition for printing paper

The present disclosure is drawn to coated print media, methods of making coated print media, and methods of printing. In one example, a coated print medium can include a substrate, a base coating layer on the substrate, and a top coating layer on the base coating layer. The base coating layer can include an inorganic pigment, a binder, and a fixing agent. The top coating layer can include polyvinyl alcohol and polymer nanobeads having a gloss transition temperature from 70&#xb0; C. to 350&#xb0; C. The polyvinyl alcohol and polymer nanobeads can be included at from 50 wt % to 100 wt % by dry weight of the top coating layer.

Recording media

An example of a printable recording medium includes a base substrate and an ink-receiving layer. The ink-receiving layer includes an inorganic pigment in an amount equal to or greater than 70 wt % and an ink-fixing agent in an amount ranging from about 3 wt % to about 10 wt % based on the total wt % of the ink-receiving layer. The inorganic pigment has a median particle size ranging from about 0.5 &#x3bc;m to about 5 &#x3bc;m. The ink-receiving layer excludes precipitated calcium carbonate.

Printable recording medium

An example of a printable recording medium includes a base substrate, a first ink-receiving layer, and a second ink-receiving layer. The first ink-receiving layer includes a first inorganic pigment in an amount equal to or greater than 70 wt % and a first ink-fixing agent in an amount ranging from about 3 wt % to about 10 wt % based on a total wt % of the first ink-receiving layer. The second ink-receiving layer includes a second inorganic pigment. Both the first ink-receiving layer and the second ink-receiving layer exclude precipitated calcium carbonate.

The present disclosure is drawn to a recording medium including a substrate, a first coating applied to the substrate, and a second coating applied to the first coating. The first coating can include inorganic pigment, fixative agent, and a first binder. The second coating can include inorganic nanoparticles, aluminum silicate, and a second binder.
