Low-band radiators of an ultra-wideband dual-band dual-polarization cellular basestation antenna and ultra-wideband dual-band dual-polarization cellular base-station antennas are provided. The dual bands comprise low and high bands. The low-band radiator comprises a dipole comprising two dipole arms adapted for the low band and for connection to an antenna feed. At least one dipole arm of the dipole comprises at least two dipole segments and at least one radiofrequency choke. The choke is disposed between the dipole segments. Each choke provides an open circuit or a high impedance separating adjacent dipole segments to minimize induced high band currents in the low-band radiator and consequent disturbance to the high band pattern. The choke is resonant at or near the frequencies of the high band.

Dual-band interspersed cellular basestation antennas

A feed network for a multi-beam antenna is provided, including a first beam port, a second beam port, a beam-forming network coupled to the beam ports, and a cancellation circuit. The cancellation circuit is coupled to the first beam port and the second beam port before the beam-forming network. The cancellation circuit extracts a portion of a RF signal on the first beam port, adds phase delay, and injects the extracted, delayed signal from the first beam port onto the second beam port, and extracts a portion of a RF signal on the second beam port, adds phase shift, and injects the extracted, delayed signal from the second beam port onto the first beam port. In one example of the invention, the cancellation circuit comprises a first directional coupler on a first beam input path, a transmission line, a second directional coupler on the second beam input path.

Reflection cancellation in multibeam antennas

Ultra-wideband dual-band cellular dual-polarization base-station antennas and low-band radiators for such antennas are disclosed. The low-band radiator comprises a dipole and an extended dipole configured in a crossed arrangement, a capacitively coupled feed connecting the extended dipole to an antenna feed, and a pair of auxiliary radiating elements. The dipole comprises two dipole arms, each of approximately &#x3bb;/4, for connection to the antenna feed. The extended dipole has anti-resonant dipole arms of approximately &#x3bb;/2. The auxiliary radiating elements are configured in parallel at opposite ends of the extended dipole. The radiator is adapted for the frequency range of 698-960 MHz and provides a horizontal beamwidth of approximately 65 degrees. The dual-band base-station antenna comprises high-band radiators configured in at least one array and low-band radiators interspersed amongst the high-band radiators at regular intervals.

Ultra-wideband dual-band cellular basestation antenna

A high-band radiator of an ultra-wideband dual-band basestation antenna is disclosed. The high-band radiator comprises at least one dipole, a feed stalk, and a tubular body made of conductive material and having an annular flange. Each dipole comprises two dipole arms made of conductive material. The feed stalk feeds the dipole and comprises a non-conductive dielectric substrate body and conductors formed on the substrate body to function as a balun transformer. The feed stalk is connected with the dipole at one end and has at least one feed connector at the other, with the conductors coupled there-between. The tubular body is adapted for electrical connection through the annular flange to the ground plane at the open end; the body is short-circuited at the other end to define an internal cavity of the tubular body. At least a portion of the feed stalk is disposed within the tubular body.

High-band radiators with extended-length feed stalks suitable for basestation antennas

Low-band radiators of an ultra-wideband dual-band dual-polarization cellular basestation antenna are provided. The dual bands include low and high bands. The low-band radiator includes a dipole with two dipole arms adapted for the low band and for connection to an antenna feed. At least one dipole arm of the dipole includes at least two dipole segments and at least one radio frequency choke. The choke is disposed between the dipole segments. Each choke provides an open circuit or a high impedance separating adjacent dipole segments to minimize induced high band currents in the low-band radiator and consequent disturbance to the high band pattern. Ultra-wideband 180&#xb0; hybrids for feeding a radiator of one band of a dual-band dual-polarization cellular basestation antenna are disclosed. The hybrid comprises: metal plates configured in parallel as groundplanes, and a dielectric substrate disposed between plates. First and second metallizations are implemented on opposite exterior surfaces of substrate and are shorted together to keep metal tracks at same potential to form conductor. Plates and first and second metallizations form first stripline circuit implementing matched splitter with short-circuit shunt stub Sum input port is provided at one end and two output ports are provided at opposite ends. Branches of matched splitter narrow to provide gap between output tracks. Third metallization is disposed within substrate. First, second and third metallizations form second stripline circuit. Tracks of third metallization comprise quarter-length transformers of different widths. Difference input port is provided at one end of second stripline circuit and at short-circuit point of short-circuit shunt stub of first stripline circuit. Metal track extends across gap of first stripline circuit.
