Techniques to handle calls to web services via a service proxy are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a technique includes an intermediate server receiving a request from a client device to the web service at a target server. In response to receiving the request, the intermediate server can authenticate the received request from the client device and upon successful authentication of the received request, forward the request to the targeted server and invoking the web service to process the forwarded request because the intermediate server is authenticated with the target server. The technique can also include receiving, at the intermediate server, data from the target server that represents execution results of the request by the web service at the target server. Upon receiving the data, the intermediate server can then forward to the client device, the data representing execution results of the request by the web service at the target server.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for providing a preview of protected content in a user interface to an email client. An email client may receive an email message including a uniform resource locator (URL) linked to at least one item stored in a data service. The email client may send the URL to an email server to determine whether a recipient of the URL has permissions to the at least one item stored in the data service. When it is determined that the recipient of the URL has permissions to the at least one item stored in the data service, content for a permission protected preview of the at least one item may be received at the email client. The email client may render the permission protected preview of the at least one item in a user interface to the email client.

A document sharing system includes a plurality of different data provider implementations. The document sharing system exposes a common application programming interface to a plurality of different clients and receives data requests identifying a given data provider, from the clients. The document sharing system then uses the data provider implementation for the data provider identified in the request, in order to obtain the requested data, and place it in a common data structure that is returned to the client.

Sharing document links from multiple data providers

A user generates a message by adding a recipient in order to send the message to the recipient. The message has a link to an attached object which is automatically detected and it is determined whether the recipient has rights to the object. If not, the recipient's rights are automatically modified so that the recipient has rights to the object, and the user is notified of the modified permissions.
