A personal care composition is provided, including: a cosmetically acceptable carrier; and a silicon glycan of formula (I): wherein each A comprises an independently selected saccharide moiety; wherein each W is an independently selected beta-amino alcohol moiety; wherein each Y comprises an independently selected organosilicon moiety; wherein each R is independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl groups, ether moieties, amine moieties, and H; wherein each Ris independently selected from substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl groups and H; wherein each Z is an independently selected ether moiety; wherein each subscript a is independently 0 or 1; wherein subscripts x and y are each independently from ≥0 to <1; wherein subscript z is selected from >0 to 1; with the proviso that x+y+z=1; and wherein moieties indicated by subscripts x, y, and z may be in randomized or block form in the silicon glycan.

An aqueous conditioner formulation for thermally styled hair is provided, including: an aqueous carrier; and a modified carbohydrate polymer, comprising a cellulose ether base material functionalized with (i) trialkyl ammonium moieties of formula (I) wherein Ris independently a Calkyl group and wherein the modified carbohydrate polymer has a Kjeldahl nitrogen content, TKN, corrected for ash and volatiles, of 0.75 to 2.5 wt %; and (ii) hydrophobic substituents having 16 carbon atoms; wherein the modified carbohydrate polymer comprises 0.005 to 1.5 wt %, based on weight of the cellulose ether base material, of the hydrophobic substituents; wherein the hydrophobic substituents are randomly distributed across the backbone of the cellulose ether base material; wherein the cellulose ether base material has a weight average molecular weight, M, of >1,000,000 Daltons; and wherein the modified carbohydrate polymer has <0.001 wt %, based on weight of modified carbohydrate polymer, of crosslinking units.

Crosslinked aminosilicone polymer and methods for its preparation and use

An aminosiloxane polymer includes at least one Si-bonded functional group. This functional group has the chemical formula: &#x2014;(R&#x2014;NH)R&#x2014;N(R)&#x2014;CH(&#x2014;COOH)(&#x2014;R&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;NR) (I). In Formula (I), R is a C-Chydrocarbon group. Ris a C-Chydrocarbon group. Ris a hydrogen atom, a C-Chydrocarbon group, or a phenyl group. Ris a C-Chydrocarbon group. Each Ris independently a hydrogen atom, a C-Chydrocarbon group, a C-Chydroxyl-hydrocarbon group, or a phenyl group. Moreover, 'a' is 0 or 1, such that (R&#x2014;NH) is optional. The aminosiloxane polymer can be formed using the method of this disclosure and can be formed in, and/or included in, the emulsion of this disclosure.

Aminosiloxane polymer and method of forming

A cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer includes a first siloxane backbone, a second siloxane backbone, and at least one intramolecular structure cross-linking a silicon atom of the first siloxane backbone and a silicon atom of the second siloxane backbone. The intramolecular structure has the chemical structure: (I) In Formula (I), X is chosen from the following groups; (II); (III); or (IV). In groups (II), (III), and (IV), each R is independently a C-Chydrocarbon group. Each Ris independently a C-Chydrocarbon group. Each Ris independently a hydrogen atom, OH, a C-Chydrocarbon group, a phenyl group, R'(OR&#x2033;), or R&#x2032;OH. Each of R&#x2032; and R&#x2033; is independently an alkyl group and 'm' is 1 to 3. Moreover, 'a' is 0 or 1. The cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer can be formed by the method of this disclosure. 

Cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer and method of forming

An emulsion includes a liquid continuous phase and a dispersed phase including a cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer. The cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer includes a first siloxane backbone, a second siloxane backbone, and at least one intramolecular structure cross-linking a silicon atom of the first siloxane backbone and a silicon atom of the second siloxane backbone. The intramolecular structure has the chemical structure: (Formula (I)) wherein X is chosen from the following groups; (Formula (II); (Formula (III)); or (Formula (IV)) wherein each R is independently a C--C-hydrocarbon group, each Ris independently a C--C-hydrocarbon group, each Ris independently a hydrogen atom, OH, a C--C-hydrocarbon group, a phenyl group, R'(OR&#x2033;)wherein m is 1 to 3, or R&#x2032;OH, wherein each of R&#x2032; and R&#x2033; is independently an alkyl group, and wherein a is 0 or 1. This disclosure also provides a method of forming the emulsion.

Emulsion of cross-linked aminosiloxane polymer

Silicone polyether microemulsions are disclosed containing i) at least 20% by weight of a water immiscible dispersed phase comprising certain polydialkylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymers having 0.1 to 10 wt % ethylene oxide (CHO) groups, optionally a water immiscible silicone or hydrocarbon fluid, and ii) at least 5% by weight of an emulsifier. The silicone polyether microemulsions are optically transparent and have an average particle size of less than 100 nanometers. They may be used in a variety of personal care product formulations. In particular, the silicone polyether microemulsions may be used to prepare 'clear' personal care products.

Aqueous silicone polyether microemulsions

Bi-modal water continuous emulsions are disclosed comprising at least 70 weight percent of a first dispersed phase containing a hydrophobic oil, wherein the hydrophobic oil is provided as a non-emulsified hydrophobic oil, a second dispersed phase containing a silicone, wherein the silicone is provided from a water continuous silicone emulsion containing at least one surfactant.

Bi-modal emulsions

Bi-modal water continuous emulsions are disclosed comprising at least 70 weight percent of: a first dispersed phase containing a hydrophobic oil, wherein the hydrophobic oil is provided as a non-emulsified hydrophobic oil, a second dispersed phase containing a silicone, wherein the silicone is provided from a water continuous silicone emulsion containing at least one surfactant.

A process for preparing bi-modal water emulsions is disclosed comprising: I) forming a mixture comprising; A) 100 parts by weight of a hydrophobic oil, B) 1 to 1000 part by weight of a water continuous emulsion having at least one surfactant, II) admixing additional quantities of the water continuous emulsion and/or water to the mixture from step I) to form a bi-modal emulsion.

A personal care composition comprising at least one saccharide-siloxane copolymer having a saccharide component and an organosiloxane component and linked by a linking group, wherein the saccharide-siloxane copolymer has a specified formula, is provided. The personal care composition is adapted to provide at least one benefit to the at least one portion of the body to which it is applied. Emulsions, methods for preparing emulsions comprising saccharide-siloxane copolymers, and personal care products comprising the personal care compositions and emulsions are also provided.

Personal care compositions containing aminofunctional endblocked silicone polyether copolymers are disclosed. The aminofunctional endblocked silicone polyether copolymers are particularly useful in hair care formulations to provide conditioning, which includes ease of detangling, combing, pliability, smoothness, slipperiness and styling benefits.

Aminofunctional endblocked silicone polyether copolymers in personal care compositions

A process is disclosed for preparing an emulsion composition by forming a mixture of a silanol functional organopolysiloxane, a boron compound, an emulsifier, and then admixing water to the mixture to form an emulsion. The resulting emulsions are useful for providing a coating of a high viscosity or dilatant silicone.

A process is disclosed for making an aqueous emulsion of a silicone polyether having a viscosity greater than 10 kPa-s at 25 QC by combining; an SiH terminated silicone polyether copolymer having an HLB of less than 7, an organopolysiloxane having terminal unsaturated groups, a hydrosilylation catalyst, and an emulsifier to form an oil phase, and then admixing water to the oil phase to form an emulsion.
