The film or plurality of film fragments can comprise repeated shapes. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a plurality of discernable lamellar fragments entrained in a carrier. Also disclosed is a method for administering a functional material to a human or animal subject in need thereof, the method comprising applying to the subject a composition comprising a film or a plurality of film fragments entrained in a carrier, wherein the film comprises the functional material.
