A process for preparing silicate shell microcapsules comprises adding a water reactive silicon compound to an oil in water emulsion, thereby condensing and polymerizing the water reactive silicon compound to form silicate shell microcapsules having a core comprising the oil phase of the said emulsion. The water reactive silicon compound comprises a tetraalkoxysilane and an alkoxysilane having an amino or quaternary ammonium substituted alkyl group.

Process for preparing silicate shell microcapsules

A fabric, fiber, hair or skin conditioning additive for use in a liquid cleaning product is encapsulated within a shell comprising a silicon-containing polymer network.

This invention relates to a particulate foam control agent comprising from 1 to 30 parts by weight of a silicone antifoam, from 70 to 99 parts by weight of a zeolite carrier for the antifoam, from 1 to 60% by weight of the silicone antifoam of a surface active agent which has been deposited on the zeolite carrier not later than the silicone antifoam and from 1 to 40 parts by weight of a polycarboxylate-type binder or encapsulant, whereby the polycarboxylate-type binder has a pH of 3 or less when dissolved in water. The invention also relates to a detergent composition comprising the particulate foam control agent and a method for the preparation of the foam control agent.

Particulate foam control agents

A method of providing a foam control agent with 1 to 30 parts of a silicone antifoam and 70 to 99 parts of a zeolite carrier, with the ability to release some of the antifoam within 10 minutes of being dispersed in an aqueous surfactant solution, by deposition 5 to 70% of the antifoam of an organo-polysiloxane polyoxyalkylene copolymer, onto the zeolite carrier not later than depositing the silicone antifoam. Also claimed is the use of the copolymer to achieve that end and compositions where the antifoam is branched or high viscosity. Also claimed is encapsulated agents.

Particulate foam control agents and their use

A method of making a particulate foam control agent comprising 0.001 to 30 parts of silicone antifoam, 45 to 99 parts of a zeolite and 0 to 30 parts of a binder, preferably of a polycarboxylate-type, able to release at least some antifoam from the zeolite in the first 10 minutes of a washing cycle comprises depositing from 0.1 to 500% of the silicone antifoam of an organic surfactant onto the zeolite not later than depositing the silicone antifoam, at least 1 part of surfactant being used per 100 parts of the foam control agent. Also covered are detergent compositions and some foam control agents.

A particulate foam control agent comprises 1 to 30 parts silicone antifoam, 70 to 99 parts zeolite carrier, 1 to 60% of the antifoam of an organopolysiloxane polyoxyalkylene copolymer, deposited onto the zeolite carrier not later than the antifoam and 1 to 40 parts by weight of a polycarboxylate-type binder or encapsulant. This combination give good release in early stages, storage stability and powder characteristics.
