An emergency vision apparatus comprises an inflatable enclosure to enable a user to see through the enclosure when expanded and observe a source of information at a distal end of the enclosure while smoke or other particulate matter is in the environment. The enclosure includes an opening configured for insertion of a user's hand into the interior of the enclosure to allow the user to operate a touch sensitive screen or hardware visible through the second clear member disposed toward a user and a sealable closure for closing the opening and sealing the opening around the user's hand. The sealable closure includes flexible first and second sheets covering the opening, the first and second sheets including respective first and second slits disposed transversely to each other, the first and second slits being configured to allow insertion of the user's hand into the interior of the enclosure.

A hand-held emergency vision apparatus comprises an enclosed tubular structure having opposite first and second ends; first and second clear members disposed at respective the first and second ends; the structure including a plurality of tubular members retractable to a shorter length and extendable to one of several lengths, the tubular members are rigid and sealed from the outside air; and a filter operably associated with the tubular structure to filter the outside air such that when the tubular structure is extended from the compact form air the outside air is forced through the filter and clean air enters the tubular structure.

An emergency vision apparatus for providing an operator in a station visual access to information during a vision-obscuring emergency, comprises an expandable first enclosure filled with clear air, the first enclosure having front and rear transparent panels to allow an operator visual access through the first enclosure to a first source of information disposed in front of the front panel; an expandable second enclosure filled with clear air, the second enclosure having a rear panel and a transparent front panel for being disposed in proximity to a second source of information; a first camera disposed at the rear panel of the second enclosure, the camera being directed toward the front panel to image the second source of information through the second enclosure front panel; and a first display operably connected to the camera, the display being operably associated with the first enclosure to be visible to the operator through the first enclosure rear panel.

An emergency vision device, comprises a collapsible tube made of airtight material and having an expanded form and a deflated stowage form; first and second clear members disposed at respective first and second ends of the tube to enable a user to see through the tube and observe a source of information at a distal end of the tube while smoke or other particulate matter is in the environment; and a portable gas cylinder having compressed clear gas and an outlet operably connected to the interior of the tube. The gas cylinder is operable to release the clear gas to fill the interior of the tube to expand the tube to the expanded form.
