A method and a device for measuring a physiological variable in a living body, whereby a transmitter ( ) is disposed outside of the body to transmit radio frequent energy, and a receiver ( ) of radio frequent energy is disposed outside of the body. A transponder unit ( ), having a sensor ( ) sensitive to the physical variable, and a modulator unit ( ) for controlling the radio frequent energy absorption of the transponder unit according to a time-sequence representing said physical variable, is introduced into the body. The transmitter sends radio frequent energy of substantially constant frequency and amplitude onto the transponder, and the receiver monitors the radio energy absorption of the transponder unit to determine the time-sequence representing said physical variable. The time-sequence is decoded to interpret it as a measure of the physical variable.

A guide wire for measuring physiological characteristics inside a body includes a sensor ( ) for monitoring the physical variable and for forming an output signal characteristic for the value of the physical variable. The sensor is connected to a first electrical potential of an electronic unit ( ) via an electrical wire ( ) extending along the guide wire. Method and device for measuring physical characteristics in a body

The sensor and guide wire assembly having a sensor element is inserted into the patient's body. Acoustic or electromagnetic waves are them emitted from an external source toward the sensor element. The sensor element receives the incident waves and enters into a resonating state. The characteristics of the resonance correspond to the variable or variables to be measured. A transducer is located externally from the patient's body and receives the scattered wave and transmits a resultant signal to an electronic drive and detection unit for signal analysis.

A mosaic recorder having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting recording liquid droplets on a moving recording medium for punctiform representation of characters and images, each nozzle having a piezoelectric transducer associated therewith and said nozzles being arranged in a recording head adjacent to one another in rows, has an improved nozzle structure wherein the inlet opening of each nozzle is generally oblong in shape and the nozzle tapers to a smaller circular outlet opening from which the recording liquid is ejected. The relatively large size inlet opening increases the ratio of the inlet opening size to the outlet opening size, thereby increasing the ejection speed of the recording liquid droplet. The hydraulic separation between adjacent nozzles is also increased and the mechanical coupling between adjacent transducers is decreased by the oblong configuration of the inlet opening while the spacing between the nozzle outlet openings remains the same.

A holographic system for recording movements of body surfaces of a patient characterized by a source of coherent light projecting on the body surface to create an object wave and having a portion of the light as a reference wave, a film carrier for photographic film disposed to simultaneously record the object and reference waves as a hologram and switching devices which are activated by a transmitter device sensing cardiac activity for double pulse switching of the source at predetermined intervals so that the two separate holograms of the body surface are recorded with each hologram being at a different time interval of the movement of the body. The present invention enables the two holograms which are recorded on the film to be recorded at given points in a cardiac activity of the patient such as given points of the EKG cycle of the patient.
