A method for operating a convertible top of a motor vehicle. The convertible top may be a soft top which may be opened and closed in an electric or hydraulic manner using, in a non-limiting embodiment, a mobile device after the mobile device receives data relating to the monitoring of an interior space and an exterior region of the motor vehicle.

Method for closing a convertible soft top

A motor vehicle with a roof opening in a fixed roof surface of the motor vehicle and a roof mechanism configured to close and at least partially open the roof opening. The roof mechanism includes a front folding roof system having a front folding-top configured to close and at least partially open a front region of the roof opening, a rear folding roof system having a rear folding-top configured to close and at least partially open a rear region of the roof opening; guide rails configured to permit displacement of the front and rear folding top, respectively, to close and at least partially open the frontad rear regions of the roof opening.

A motor vehicle and a method for at least partially opening and closing a folding roof for the motor vehicle. The motor vehicle a roof frame defining a roof opening and a roof mechanism configured to permit a selective closing and at least partial opening of the roof opening. The roof mechanism includes a folding roof system having a hood cover with a plurality of spaced apart first transparent elements in a longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle and a second plurality of transparent elements between the first transparent elements and configured such that, in the at least partial opening of the roof opening, the hood cover forms folds in which the first transparent elements are positioned in an upper, upward-facing side of a fold and the second transparent elements are positioned in a lower, downward-facing side of a fold and are concealed by the first transparent elements.

A collapsible roof for a vehicle includes a roof guide, a roof cap, a top fabric, and an adjusting mechanism. The adjusting mechanism movably couples the roof cap to the roof guide such that the roof cap with the top fabric are movable relative to the roof guide between a closed position in which the top fabric covers a roof opening and an opened position in which the top fabric exposes the roof opening. The adjusting mechanism includes front and rear control arms coupled to the roof cap. The front control arm includes a locking hook and the rear control arm includes a latching hook. The locking hook engages a front cavity of the roof guide in the closed position to fix the roof cap in place and the latching hook engages a rear cavity of the roof guide in the opened position to fix the roof cap in place.

A folding sliding roof for a convertible vehicle includes a top fabric, a guide rail, a sliding top bow, and a corner bow. The sliding top bow is connected to the top fabric and is displaceably mounted to the guide rail to move the top fabric between closed and opened positions. The corner bow is connected to the top fabric and is pivotably mounted on the guide rail about a pivot axis.

A hardtop vehicle roof having at least two rigid roof parts, at least one of which can be adjusted, by a roof part kinematic system, between a closed position in which the vehicle interior is covered and in which the roof parts are arranged one behind the other in the direction of travel, and a storage position exposing the vehicle interior. The roof part kinematic system of the roof parts is arranged on the outside of at least one roof part facing away from the vehicle interior.

A vehicle roof includes a roof opening in a roof skin. First and second roof parts are movable between a closed position in which the parts are arranged flush behind one another within the roof opening to thereby close off the roof opening and in an opened position in which the second part is lowered with respect to the roof skin and the first part extends over the second part to thereby expose the roof opening. A kinematic support mechanism is movable to an extended position in which the mechanism fixes the second part in the closed position and in a retracted position in which the mechanism lowers the second part in the opened position. The first part and the mechanism are connected to one another such that the first part actuates the mechanism between its positions in response to the first part moving between the closed and opened positions.

A soft-top for a motor vehicle includes a cover and a support frame. The support frame has at least two parts supporting the cover. The at least two parts are movable relative to one another between a clamped position and a folded position such that the support frame is movable between the clamped position in which the support frame is extended with the cover thereon and the folded position in which the support frame is folded with the cover thereon upon. An adjustment device adjusts the at least two parts to move the support frame with the cover thereon between the clamped and the folded positions.

A convertible top for a vehicle includes a folding top frame. The folding top frame has a transversely extending front bow and a pair of oppositely disposed first and second side rails. The front bow has first and second ends. The folding top frame is movable between a closed position in which the folding top frame is longitudinally extended and a stored position in which the folding top frame is folded. The convertible top further includes first and second rotary joints each having a transversely extending swivel axis. The rotary joints respectively link the ends of the front bow to the side rails such that the front bow swivels about the transversely extending swivel axes of the rotary joints as the folding top frame moves between the closed and stored positions in order to reduce space requirements in the stored position of the folding top frame.

A covering apparatus protects motor vehicle occupants from an openable roof of the vehicle in which the roof is movable along an enveloping surface between a stored position in which the roof is opened and a closed position in which the roof is closed. The apparatus includes a cover movable between a rest position in which the cover is stowed and a protecting position in which the cover is extended, wherein the cover moves between the rest position and the protecting position without intersecting the enveloping surface of the roof prior to or during movement of the roof between the stored and closed positions of the roof. In the resting position, the cover is located between the vehicle interior and the enveloping surface formed by the opening and closing motion of the roof.

A selectively pressurized sealing and/or locking system for vehicles with a vehicle opening on the body structure. Vehicle elements that are to be sealed and/or locked in relation to one another are attached by locking elements. The locking elements have positive-engagement elements that define a hollow portion and a stiffening bridging part in a transitional area between parts of the vehicle that are to be connected together.

A convertible top having right and left side rails that fold toward each other as the convertible top is retracted. A segmented one bow is connected by a linkage to the side rails. The side rails being shiftable from an extended position wherein they extend longitudinally relative to the vehicle to a retracted position wherein the side rails extend transversely relative to the vehicle. A one piece one bow is latched to the windshield header in the extended position and is stored in a storage compartment when the convertible top is retracted.

In a hardtop vehicle roof, which includes a front roof element and a rear roof element comprising side support members and a rear window panel, the front roof element is supported so as to be independently movable from the closed position to a storage position in a storage compartment disposed behind the vehicle roof so as to provide for the vehicle a Targa configuration, the rear window panel is independently movable into the storage compartment to provide for a Landau configuration and the front window is deposited in the storage compartment below the rear window panel while the side support members are retracted into side storage spaces to provide for a cabriolet configuration of the vehicle.

An automobile convertible top for an automobile which can be adjusted between a closed position and a folded-down position has a convertible-top mechanism and a convertible-top fabric which is supported by the convertible-top mechanism. A side bar, is comprised of two limbs arranged at an angle and, in the side region of the convertible-top mechanism, is held by a joint having a first axis and a second axis which runs at an angle to the first axis. The side bar is arranged on the convertible-top mechanism such that, in the folded-down position, one limb of the side bar is with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The end side of the limb which is remote from the joint faces toward the side region lying opposite the joint. To improve the seal for a convertible top in the region of the side windows, the pivotable side bar is configured as a single-part component and one limb of the pivotable side bar, in the closed position of the convertible top, extends as far as a window frame of the windshield.

Folding top for a motor vehicle

An adjustable folding top for a motor vehicle can be adjusted between a closed position covering the vehicle interior and a deposited position. The top is equipped with a folding top linkage having a plurality of movably arranged transverse and side bows. In order to provide a simply constructed and space-saving folding top, a rearward transverse bow of the folding top linkage, which faces the depositing space of the folding top, has a multipart construction with at least one center section and two lateral sections. The lateral sections are connected with the center section by way of articulations. Furthermore, during the transition from the closed position into the deposited position, the rearward transverse bow can be displaced along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in the direction of the rearward side of the vehicle and, during the transition from the closed position into the deposited position, the lateral sections of the rearward transverse bow can be swivelled in the direction of the vehicle interior.
