A housing for an instrument, particularly of the type for indicating and recording speed. A front cover includes a window through which the indicator is visable. The cover is hinged to the housing on a horizontal axis spaced from the housing base so that the bottom of the cover swings inwardly of the housing while the top of the cover swings downwardly revealing a recording apparatus on its inner surface.

Construction of a housing, particularly for tachographs, and of a cover

In the disclosed apparatus, a slide is mounted on a guide bar for longitudinal as well as rotary motion. A recording instrument projects from the slide and a spring biases the slide about the guide bar so as to press the recording instrument against the record carrier. The speed measuring device moves the slide longitudinally on the basis of the measured speed.

Speed recording device

Recording apparatus includes a planar support for supporting a flat recording medium such as one or more circular graph sheets. At least one recording instrument, e.g., a wire pen, is arranged to be movable relative to the support to provide a recording on the recording medium when the instrument is moved into contact with the medium and the medium is driven at a given rate. A lid is provided for covering the recording medium, the lid being arranged for pivotal movement about a hinge axis between open and closed positions relative to the support. The lid also serves to move the recording instrument into contact with the recording medium when it is in the closed position, and to lift the recording instrument out of contact from the recording medium when in the open position. A movable, guide part contacts the recording instrument to lift the instrument out of contact from the recording medium when the lid is moved to the open position. A drive arrangement is provided between the lid and the guide part to provide lifting movement to the guide part when the lid is pivoted toward the open position, so that the recording instrument is firmly supported out of contact with the recording medium and cannot be tampered with to make false recordings while the lid is open.

Recording apparatus

A recording device featuring simplicity of design operative with a movable planar recording medium is formed as a unitary lever assembly having a first arm with a stylus mounted thereon and a second arm actuated to effect rotation of the lever assembly about a mounting axle to effect recording operation. The mounting of the lever assembly on the axle includes a rectangular slot which permits tilting movement of the lever assembly laterally of the mounting axle to permit the stylus to be lifted from the recording medium.

In a device for recording vehicle speeds on a record carrier, the carrier includes a recording layer of a suitable colored paste and is combined with a lid as a unit which is removably mounted on the device housing. The recording layer is located between the lid and the record carrier. The circumferential periphery of the lid and of the record carrier are interconnected. In this arrangement at least the record carrier is transparent.
