A crosswalk lighting system for alerting drivers that a person is entering or crossing at a crosswalk includes a road marked with a crosswalk; at least one alert light mounted one of on and adjacent to the crosswalk; a system power source; a system circuit connected to the system power source and to the at least one alert light; and a system mat containing a weight-activated switch and mounted adjacent to the road at a first end of the crosswalk for activation in response to the weight of a pedestrian stepping on a system mat as the pedestrian approaches the entrance of the crosswalk.

An improved exercise assembly structured to be struck by a user includes a base supporting a shaft on a supporting surface. A support shaft extends outwardly from the supporting surface. At least one target is connected to the support shaft and extends outwardly. The at least one target is connected to a breakaway mechanism, which is connected to a rotational fitting, which connects to the support shaft. The target is able to be struck and rotate around the shaft via the rotational fitting. Upon a misdirected striking (force) inflicting on the target, the breakaway mechanism mitigates forces away from the shaft and rotational fitting in order to reduce total stress on the assembly.

A solar powered road lamp apparatus includes a mounting cup for embedding in a recess in a mounting surface; a light assembly removably fitted within the mounting cup, the light assembly including a power source and a light source connected to the power source so that the light source emits light over the mounting surface, and a solar cell structure connected to the power source for recharging the power source. The cup preferably is formed of plastic or biodegradable material. The framework preferably includes a top structure having a light directing channel, adjacent to the light source for directing light from the light source through the framework and over the mounting surface, and a solar cell exposure port above the solar cell, a base plate spaced below the top structure, and at least one bolt interconnecting the top structure and the base plate. The apparatus preferably additionally includes a translucent or transparent core structure clamped between the top structure and the base plate.

A wireless tattoo applicator system includes a wireless tattoo applicator having a frame, a wireless receiver mechanically coupled to the frame, at least one coil mechanically coupled to the frame, an armature pivotally coupled to the frame adjacent the at least one coil, a spring mounted to the frame and applying a force to the armature in a first direction, a needle assembly mechanically coupled to the armature and free to move in a reciprocating manner, a battery power supply mechanically coupled to the frame and selectively electrically couplable to the at least one coil and operable, when coupled to the at least one coil, to energize the at least one coil to create a magnetic field causing the armature to be pulled in a second direction opposite the first direction, and a control circuit communicatively coupled to the receiver and operable to couple and decouple the battery power supply from the at least one coil at a selectable frequency. A wireless tattoo applicator controller remote from the wireless tattoo applicator includes first and second antennas, an antenna selector switch communicatively coupled to the first antenna and the second antenna and operable to activate the first antenna, the second antenna, or both, a wireless transmitter communicatively coupled to the antenna selector switch, and a processor communicatively coupled to the antenna selector switch and the wireless transmitter and operable to cause the wireless transmitter to broadcast a tattoo operating instruction to the wireless tattoo applicator.

Wireless tattoo applicator system

A wireless, battery powered tattooing apparatus employing a stable voltage regulator to provide stable control of the operation of the tattoo applicator. A user interface enables an artist to select a desired reciprocation frequency for the needle movement of the tattoo applicator. The selected setting is used to generate a particular voltage from the voltage regulator that in turn, controls the frequency of the needle reciprocations. A wireless receiver receives operational commands to control the tattoo applicator from a remote transmitter thereby keeping the artist's hands free to work.

A differentiator for a vending machine includes a drive motor which drives a threaded shaft. A carrier with a port adapted to receive the threaded shaft defines the base of the differentiator with the head of the differentiator pivotally mounted on the base. A biasing spring between the base and the head urges the head into an angular orientation. A surface which supports a stack of items marketed by the vending machine provides an environment in which the differentiator works. The differentiator is mounted under the support surface. The support surface includes a slot therein. The differentiator is mounted so that differentiator head, on the differentiator base is positioned in the slot of the support surface. One end of the angularly oriented head extends above the support surface, through the slot and, when carried forward by the base, separates an item from the stack of items supported on the support surface. When carried backward by the base, the angular orientation of the head is overcome by items in the stack, which overcome the bias and flatten the position of the head. Escape, by the head, from the influence of the stack, urges the head to an angular orientation.

Differentiator for vending machine and the like

A first global position signal receiver (GPS receiver), at an undefined location, receives first global position signal data (GPS Data) from global position satellites, in orbit above the earth. The first signal data defines a first location for the first receiver, however, the location defined is inaccurate, with respect to the actual location of the first receiver. A second GPS receiver, spaced from the first GPS receiver, at a second undefined location, receives second GPS Data from the satellites. The second GPS Data defines a second location for the second GPS receiver, the location defined being inaccurate with respect to the actual location of the second receiver. The first GPS Data and the second GPS Data are applied to a computer programmed to combine both signal data mathematically and to calculate the difference between the two GPS Data. The difference between the two data defines a distance and a direction between the first defined location and the second defined location. The derived distance and direction are the distance and direction between the two GPS receivers.

System and method for measuring distance between two objects

A global position satellite receiver (GPS receiver) is located in a fixed, undefined location on or in the vacinity of a golf course. The distance and direction between the fixed GPS receiver and a pin on the green of a hole on the golf course is measured using conventional distance and direction measuring apparatus. This is a first measured leg. A mobile GPS receiver, with computer, is on the golf course. A golf ball is on the fairway of the hole. The fixed GPS receiver receivers first global position satellite signals (GPS Data) from global position satellites in orbit above the earth, the first GPS Data defining a location for the fixed GPS receiver. The mobile GPS receiver receives second GPS Data from the global position satellites which defines a location for the mobile GPS receiver. Both sets of GPS Data are identically contaminated and both location definitions are unreliable, in accuracy. The first GPS Data and the second GPS Data are mathematically calculated to derive the distance and direction between the fixed GPS receiver and the mobile GPS receiver. This is a derived leg. The distance and direction between the mobile GPS receiver and the golf ball on the fairway are measured using conventional distance and direction finding apparatus. This is a second measured leg. The derived leg and the second measured leg are mathematically combined to calculate the distance and direction between the fixed GPS receiver and the golf ball. This is the first calculated leg. The first measured leg and the first calculated leg are mathematically combined to calculate the distance and direction between the golf ball on the fairway and the pin.

System and method for measuring distance between two objects using received satellite transmitted data

A global position receiver receives navigation signal from navigation satellites, in space, from a fixed location on a golf course, the location defined in stable location data. Location data derived from the navigation signals defines the fixed location in unstable location data. The stable location data and the unstable location data are compared for generating an error signal. A mobile global position receiver, on a fairway of the golf receives concurrently transmitted navigation signals from the navigation satellites from an undefined location. Location data derived from the navigation signals by the mobile unit defining the location of the mobile unit in unstable location data is combined with the error signal generating stable location data defining the undefined location of the mobile unit on the fairway. The distance and direction of a golf ball from the mobile unit, are measured. The stable location data, defining the location of the mobile unit, is combined with the measured distance and direction and stable location data defining the location of the golf ball is obtained, The distance between the golf ball and the hole on the green, the location of which is fixed and known in compatible location data, is measured by simple mathematics.

System and method for measuring distance between two objects on a golf

A power supply (100) includes an energy source (102) which provides cyclically varying supply voltage having periodic repeated beginning points. Generally, the beginning points comprise zero potential points of the cyclically varying supply voltage. The energy source is coupled to an energy control means (106) which is responsive to a control setting for controlling an output (108). A controller (114) provides the control setting in response to a feedback signal received from a sensor (116) only at the beginning points and maintains control of the control setting constant until a subsequent beginning point.

Power supply for a battery charger

Stripline filters and the like have one or more elongated resonator conductors positioned on a dielectric substrate which is backed by a ground plane conductor, with the response frequency being dependent primarily on the length of the resonator. A wide apron conductor is connected to the grounded end of the resonator and to the ground planes. The resonator and apron can be formed by use of a mask such that errors in alignment of the mask do not change the length of the resonator or the point of connection to the grounding apron. The apron, because of its width, has low transmission line impedance to the ground plane which is not changed by changes in configuration or position of the mask, so that it effectively grounds the resonator at the end thereof connected to the apron. A second dielectric substrate backed by a ground plane conductor may be placed on the resonator conductor. The filter may have a plurality of resonators connected to grounding aprons, and a plurality of resonators can be connected to the same apron. In this case it may be desired to place a notch or cut-out in the apron between the connection of the resonators thereto, to interrupt spurious couplings between such resonators through the apron.
