A circuit board assembly may include a circuit board, a first electrical terminal, and a layer of solder paste. The circuit board may include a minimum thickness, a first side, and a second side opposite the first side. The first electrical terminal may include a solder tab. The layer of solder paste may be disposed on the first side of the circuit board. The solder tab of the first electrical terminal may extend into the first side of the circuit board but not beyond the second side of the circuit board.

A method of assembling a circuit board may include inserting a first electrical terminal into a first side of a circuit board, and applying a second layer of solder paste to a second side of the circuit board, the second side disposed opposite of the first side. The first electrical terminal may include a solder tab, a maximum length of the solder tab may be shorter than a minimum thickness of the circuit board, and if the first electrical terminal is inserted into the circuit board, the solder tab may extend at least partially into the circuit board without extending entirely through the circuit board. One or more electrical terminals with short and/or long solder tabs may be inserted into the second side of the circuit board and/or one or more electrical components may be attached to second side of circuit board.

A printed circuit board includes a surface and having first and second adjacent apertures. First and second electrical terminals include respective ends disposed in the first and second apertures of the printed circuit board, respective shoulders adjacent to the ends of the first and second electrical terminals and engaged with the surface of the printed circuit board, and respective insertion tabs adjacent to the shoulders of the first and second electrical terminals and located respective first and second distances away from the surface of the printed circuit board. The first and second distances are different such that the first and second insertion tabs do not touch one another.

The present disclosure includes an electrical terminal that may include a first portion, a second portion, and/or a middle portion. A middle portion may be disposed between first and second portions and/or a middle portion may include a first middle section, a second middle section, a recessed portion disposed between the first middle section and the second middle section, and/or an aperture. The electrical terminal may include a transition portion that may be disposed between a middle portion and a second portion.

Semi-compliant terminals

A connector assembly is provided with a body that extends along a lateral length with a longitudinal height defined by a first body surface and an opposing second body surface. A locking terminal extends through the body and includes an elongate blade having a distal end for electrically connecting to a mating connector and a proximal end adapted to electrically connect to an electronic component with an aperture. At least one tab extends lengthwise from an intermediate portion of the blade and extends through the electronic component aperture. A projection extends outward from the tab such that the projection interferes with the aperture during insertion of the tab therethrough for deforming the tab. After insertion, the tab returns from the deformation and engages the projection to the electronic component for retaining the tab within the aperture.

Terminal and connector assembly

The connector assembly includes a body extending along a length with a longitudinal height defined by a first surface and an opposing second surface. At least one terminal projects through the body. The terminal includes a blade extending from the first surface for electrically connecting with a mating connector. The terminal also includes a leg extending from the second surface. A tab has a convex surface and is formed at a distal end of the leg without any apertures formed therethrough. The convex surface is adapted for electrically connecting with a mounting surface of an electronic component upon receipt of a predetermined signal.

Electrical connector

A method and system relate to use of an alignment plate in electrical assemblies having terminal blades or other features. The alignment plate includes features for suspending the plate relative to the terminal blades for protecting the blades during assembly, transport, and other operations.

A terminal blade connection system has a first printed circuit board including a blade passage extending therethrough. Also, a receptacle terminal has a first terminal support leg, a second terminal support leg, spaced from the first terminal support leg, and a side support arm connected between the first and second terminal support legs, with the first terminal support leg mounted on one side of the blade passage and the second terminal support leg mounted on the other side of the blade passage, and with the two support legs forming a contact portion. The contact portion is engagable with a terminal blade mounted on a second printed circuit board. The receptacle terminal is shaped to accept the terminal blade from either the top or the bottom, through the blade passage, thus allowing for mounting of the second printed circuit board on either side of the first.

Terminal connector

A light emitting electrical connector is disclosed that includes an electrical circuit, which is secured to a housing of the electrical connector, having a light emitting source and a resistor. In a preferred embodiment, the housing includes a terminal connecting portion for providing electrical power to the electrical circuit, which is molded to the housing of the electrical connector. Preferably, the electrical circuit includes a light emitting diode as the light emitting source. The housing further includes a mounting structure for securing the housing to a surface. In a most preferred embodiment, the mounting structure comprises at least two snap fit tabs for mounting the electrical connector to the surface.

An electrical junction box has a first insulating polymeric portion and a second polymeric portion defining multiple electrically conductive circuits. The circuits are at least partially separated by the first insulating polymeric portion and at least some of the circuits electrically connect together wire harness connector portions. A further aspect of the present invention junction box causes a section of the first insulating polymeric portion to concurrently act as a segment of an outer protective cover for the junction box.
