A heating system for heating food provides a heated forced air source and a food package including an air circulating bag for convection heating of the food. The food package can include an interior food storage pouch which is not exposed to direct impingement by the circulating air preventing cooking oils or smoke from the mixing with the circulating air flow.

Plaque accumulation in the blood vessels of a patient is removed by a laser beam acting directly on the plaque. The laser beam is conducted to the plaque by a hollow tubular catheter which is sufficiently resilient and flexible so that it may be snaked through a blood vessel to the location of the plaque. The tube has an internal mirrored surface and its internal wall is formed from plastic resin tape having one surface coated with a mirror material. The tape is covered by an elongated spring which, in turn, is covered by a smooth plastic resin coating forming the exterior wall of the tube. In one embodiment the spring is replaced by a series of rings, with each ring having opposed loops to guide wires, with the wires being strung parallel with the axis of the tube. The wires are fastened to the innermost and outermost rings so that manipulation of the outermost ring will selectively pull the wires to direct the direction of the tube.

Method and apparatus for removal of plaque from blood vessels

The present invention includes a cell culture apparatus for growing and maintaining living cells in vitro. The cell culture apparatus includes a shell being at least partially constructed of a flexible material. A plurality of capillaries are disposed within the shell, defining a cell culturing space between the capillaries and the shell wall. At least one of the capillaries has selectively permeable walls. The shell permits one end of the apparatus to be moved towards another end, spreading apart the capillaries.

Method and apparatus for growing cells in vitro

In a grain elevator, grain mixed with dust is delivered near the top of a grain silo to the receiving orifice of a grain chute. The chute includes an enclosed conduit which extends from the top of the grain silo to its floor and deposits the grain in the silo without freely falling in the interior of the silo. The conduit has a tandem column series of vertically extending doors which are counter-balanced to be normally closed and which are opened by the weight of the grain in the conduit. The fall of the grain within the conduit separates the grain from the dust and the dust is removed by an exhaust fan connected to the conduit, the air flow being through the open bottom doors of the conduit, through the conduit, and out of the silo to a tube connected to a dust separator. In addition, the grain falls within the conduit and flows out of the doors which the grain column opens and which are immediately above the level of the grain already delivered into the silo, the other doors remaining closed.

The optical system further includes a front face reflecting mirror to change the optical path 90.degree., a first focusing lens, a fiber optic bundle and a second focusing lens. The fiber optic bundle has one face in the form of an annulus or sector of an annulus and the opposite face of rectangular shape so that an annular shaped image may be converted into a non-distorted image of rectangular form.

A system for the projection of the magnified image of the liquid contents on the wall of a test tube includes a light-tight cabinet, a light source, a test tube holding means which preferably positions the test tube at an angle of 10.degree.-40.degree. from the horizontal, a projection lens and a rear viewing screen.
