A sensor circuit that is capable of sensing of neural action potentials is disclosed. The circuit can be designed to minimize power dissipation and total silicon area so that it can be incorporated into a massively parallel sensor array and ultimately implanted in the body (e.g. into the brain) in a safe manner. The circuit can also be designed to be tunable such that it can be optimized in silico prior to fabrication, and can be optimized through the use of controllable current sources after fabrication.

Low-area, low-power neural recording circuit, and method of training the same

An imaging system for detecting one or more events in a pixel array. The imaging system comprises the pixel array and a processing area adjacent to the pixel array. The imaging system is configured to transfer the pixel information of a subgroup of pixels to the processing area and the processing area is configured to process the event information.

Imaging device for detecting sparse event information in a pixel array

A stacked image sensor comprises an array of tiles, each comprising a sensor array layer tile comprising a plurality of sensing elements for receiving radiation, one or more electronics layer tiles comprising at least one read-out circuit, connected to at least one subgroup of sensing elements of the sensor array layer tile, a photonics layer tile comprising at least one waveguide and one or more modulators, each connected to the one or more electronics layer tiles. The modulators are adapted for modulating an optical signal travelling within the at least one waveguide. The electronics layer tile comprises at least one driver for driving an optical modulator in the photonics layer tile in accordance with the signals received in each sensing element of the sensor array layer tile. At least one of the layer tiles (sensor array layer, electronics layer and/or photonics layer tiles) is implemented in a single integrated circuit.

Opto-electronic stacked sensor

The present invention provides a pixel circuit comprising a pinned photodiode, at least one first transfer gate for electrically connecting the pinned photodiode to at least one storage node and at least one further transfer gate. The at least one further gate can connect the at least one storage node with at least one floating diffusion node. At least one merging switch is included for allowing connection between the at least one floating diffusion node with one or more capacitor nodes, which can accept charge that exceeds the maximum storage capacity of the storage node.

Global shutter high dynamic range sensor

A device () for assisting in optical characterisation of a sample fluid. The device can comprise a substrate () with at least one measurement reservoir () adapted for filling with the fluid () in a filling direction. The device () thereby is adapted for receiving an illumination beam () for illuminating the fluid () in the at least one measurement reservoir (). The at least one measurement reservoir is adapted for varying the rate of change of an optical path length of the illumination beam in the fluid. The measurement reservoir properties are adapted for providing information of an optical path length of the illumination beam in the fluid at a plurality of moments during the filling with the fluid. Furthermore a corresponding optical characterisation device is described. The invention also relates to a corresponding method.

Optical characterisation methods and systems

An optical characterisation system is described for characterising optical material. The system typically comprises a diffractive element (), a detector () and an optical element (). The optical element () thereby typically is adapted for receiving an illumination beam, which may be an illumination response of the material. The optical element () typically has a refractive surface for refractively collimating the illumination beam on the diffractive element () and a reflective surface for reflecting the diffracted illumination beam on the detector (). The optical element () furthermore is adapted for cooperating with the diffractive element () and the detector () being positioned at a same side of the optical element () opposite to the receiving side for receiving the illumination beam.

Compact catadioptric spectrometer

A method is described for providing a predetermined optical path in an optical module, the predetermined optical path being defined by predetermined optical characteristics for the optical module. a modifiable optical element is provided at a predetermined position in the optical module, thus generating an initial optical path of the optical module. The modifiable optical element comprising at least one optical interface in the initial optical path. An optical signal is detected from a radiation beam on the initial optical path of the optical module. The optical interface of the modifiable optical element is then physically modified to generate at least one modified optical interface of the modifiable optical element. The physical modification takes into account the detected optical signal so as to obtain substantially the predetermined optical characteristics for the optical module.
