An example mount assembly includes an upper mount and a lower mount. The assembly also includes an inertia track having a central opening defining an axis. The inertia track defines a passage in fluid communication with the first chamber and the second chamber. The inertia track is moveable along the axis.

Axially damped hydraulic mount assembly

A vibration isolator assembly, such as an isolator bushing or cradle mount, includes a housing and an isolator connected to the housing. A shaft assembly includes first and second mating components, the first component being connected to the elastomer and having a cavity of a first dimension for receiving the second component having a different, second dimension therein. The differing dimensions alters the stress characteristics of the vibration isolator assembly. According to a preferred method of altering stress characteristics of a vibration isolator assembly, the method includes the steps of forming a cavity in the shaft and varying a dimension of the shaft to alter the spring rate characteristics. In the preferred arrangement, the shaft assembly includes a split, first component and a second component is inserted between the split portions to relieve tensile stress in the isolator and, if desired, to impart a compressive stress in the isolator.

Vibration isolator assembly having altered stress characteristics, and method of altering stress characteristics of same

A vibration isolator assembly, such as an isolator bushing or cradle mount, includes a housing and an isolator connected to the housing. A shaft assembly includes first and second mating components, the first component being connected to the elastomer and having a cavity of a first dimension for receiving the second component having a different, second dimension therein. The differing dimensions alter the stress characteristics of the vibration isolator assembly. In the preferred arrangement, the shaft assembly includes a first component comprising first and second portions, a thin layer of elastomer interposed between the first and second components and a second component which is inserted between the portions to relieve tensile stress in the isolator and, if desired, to impart a compressive stress in the isolator. The thin layer of elastomer permits the first components to be made more economically. The first component of the shaft assembly is made at a lower dimensional tolerance and subsequently produced to a higher dimensional tolerance by molding the thin layer of elastomer to a precision tolerance.

Vibration isolator assembly having altered stress characteristics and method of altering stress characteristics of same

A body mount for a vehicle includes a rebound cushion assembly in which a first cushion portion provides a progressive rate buildup to provide travel rebound control and a second cushion portion prevents an upper cushion of the body mount from hitting against the vehicle frame. A clamp member partially encloses the first and second cushion portions. The portions are preferably inner and outer rings interconnected by a thin membrane that allows independent action. The first portion is an elongated member always in compression that has a minimal impact on the system rate and loaded height and the second ring comes into selective contact with the vehicle frame to prevent the upper cushion from being lifted from the vehicle frame.

Two stage body mount rebound cushion

A body mount for coupling a vehicle body to a vehicle frame is disclosed. The body mount includes a first member disposed on one side of the frame. The first member includes an elastomeric member with a plurality of pads formed about the periphery of the first member for defining a side to side and a fore/aft cushioning rate. The body mount also includes a second member disposed on an opposite side of the frame and operably coupled to the first member.
