A gas-measuring probe for determining a physical characteristic of a measuring gas, in particular the concentration of a gas component or the temperature or pressure of the measuring gas, which includes a sensor element accommodated in a housing, at least one connection cable for the sensor element having an electrical conductor, which is enclosed by an insulation sheath and contacts the sensor element, and a cable channel sealing the housing end, which has at least one axial cable feedthrough through which the connection cable is guided out of the housing. To achieve long-lasting sealing at the cable-exit end of the housing even at higher temperatures, the insulation sheath of the connection cable is at least regionally welded to the cable wall of the cable feedthrough. To this end, a tube made of a material that fuses with the insulation sheath and the cable channel when heated is slipped over the cable section of the connection cable lying inside the cable channel.

Gas-measuring probe for determining the physical characteristic of a measuring gas

A sensor unit for determining a physical sensor parameter of a measuring gas, in particular an oxygen concentration in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is provided, which includes a sensor housing and at least one connection cable having an electrically insulating cable sheathing, for the transmission of energy and/or the sensor parameter, the sensor housing having at least one cable opening for the connection cable and at least one sealing element for sheathing and sealing the connection cable, the cable having better sealing than the related art and/or the ability to resist higher temperature loading. According to the invention, this is achieved by at least partially forming the sealing element as tube.

Sensor unit having a connection cable

A gas sensor, whose purpose is to determine a physical property of a measuring gas, e.g., to determine the concentration of a gas component or the temperature of an exhaust gas. The gas sensor includes a sensor element arranged in a metal housing which is sealed by at least one sealing element arranged in a metal receptacle. The metal receptacle is affixed to the housing. The sealing element surrounds the sensor element in a centered position along its longitudinal extension L or on its half facing the measuring gas.

Gas sensor and method for production thereof

A detecting element is described, in particular a gas sensor for detecting the concentration of a gas component in a measuring gas, including a sensor element which is exposable to the measuring gas and has a connecting end section which is contacted by connecting cables and is exposed to a reference gas atmosphere. The end section is accommodated in a protective sleeve having a radial opening over which a gas-permeable diaphragm covering the at least one radial opening is provided, the diaphragm, in turn, being engaged by a clamping sleeve having at least one radial opening. To avoid the axial penetration of liquids between the clamping sleeve and the diaphragm, which would cause the detecting element to malfunction, the clamping sleeve is caulked axially above and below the radial openings. Both caulking zones are designed in such a way that the diaphragm is compressed with increasing force from the inner caulking edges facing each other to the outer caulking edges facing away from each other.

Detecting element for determining the concentration of a gas component in a measuring gas, and method for manufacturing the detecting element

A gas sensor includes a sensor element for determining at least one physical quantity of a gas, e.g., for determining the concentration of a gas component in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine or the temperature of the exhaust gas. The sensor element is fixed in position by the sealing system in a housing of the gas sensor. The sealing system includes at least one sealing element, which includes a mixture of a ceramic material and a glass. The hemisphere temperature of the glass is above 750&deg; Celsius.

Sealing system for a gas sensor and a method for manufacturing the sealing system

measuring sensor, in particular for determining the oxygen content in the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, includes a sensor element which is axially arranged in a metallic housing and which is contacted by at least one connecting cable, which is brought axially out of the housing, through a support sleeve member, and which has a cable insulation, a reference atmosphere for the sensor element being introducible into the housing, and the cable insulation, at the surface area, having, at least in certain regions, at least one gas-permeable section, such that the reference atmosphere arrives inside the cable insulation and, from there, in the housing. The gas-permeable region of the cable insulation is directly contiguous to the cable-output end of the support-sleeve member and sheathed there by a porous tube of gas-permeable PTFE material, while allowing for a radial clearance between the porous PTFE tube and the gas-permeable section of the cable insulation.

A seal is proposed for a sensor element of a gas sensor, in particular for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases of combustion engines. The seal has a sealing element, which is fixed in position in a longitudinal bore of a metallic housing. The sealing element contains a mixture of steatite and at least one low-melting-point glass. To manufacture the seal, a prefabricated sealing ring made of a mixture of steatite powder and powdered glass is used, which is pressed in the longitudinal bore, the sealing ring being subjected to a thermal treatment, in which the glass is melted.

Seal for a sensor element of a gas sensor and method for producing said seal

A measuring device (e.g., an electrochemical sensor) has a sensor element arranged at a measuring point, the sensor element being arranged in a housing, which is linked via electrical connecting lines to an evaluation circuit away from the measuring point, and the electrical connecting lines being routed, at least in the vicinity of the measuring point, in a protective device. Provision is made that the protective device is joined, with a force-locking and form-locking fit, to the housing via an attachment device, which embraces (surrounds) the housing and the protective device, to form a sealing seat.

Measurement device

A measuring device, in particular, an electrochemical sensor, has a sensor element arranged at a measuring point. The sensor element is arranged in a housing and is connected via electrical connecting lines to an evaluation circuit away from the measuring point. The electrical connecting lines are run, at least in the vicinity of the measuring point, in a protective device. The protective device forms a sealing seat with the housing. The housing in the area of the sealing seat, at least in some areas, has a coating.
