A drilling tool for producing a bore with a cylindrical inner wall can be rotatable in a rotary movement with a predetermined rotational direction (VD) about a tool axis (A) extending through the drilling tool, and at the same time is movable in an axial forward movement (VB) in a forward direction axially to the tool axis. The drilling tool comprises at least one drilling area () arranged in a forwardly located region of the drilling tool at a forward or free end, but preferably not having a thread forming region. The drilling area has a number n of drilling edges which are arranged offset to each other in the rotational direction, and at least one chip divider is arranged on at least one or each of the n drill cutting edges, where the chip divider forms an interruption of the respective drill cutting edge.

A drilling tool extends in a longitudinal direction and has a drill point and first and second major cutting edges, which extend approximately radially outward. The drill point is arranged eccentrically relative to a central axis, which is the same as the axis of rotation. The method provides for forming a drill with a grinding tool to form different angular transitions of the cutting edge structure.

The invention relates to a modular drill including a shank part with an end side. A cutting part can be connected to the shank part at its end side. The shank part has at least one torque transmission element which projects on the end side and has at least one torque transmission face for transmitting a torque in the rotational direction from the shank part to the cutting part. The cutting part has at least one torque receiving region for receiving the torque. The at least one torque receiving region has at least one torque receiving face which corresponds with the torque transmission face. The cutting part has at least one centering element for radially centering the cutting part in relation to the shank part. The cutting part is clamped to the shank part via a clamping element which acts at least predominantly in the axial direction.

Drilling tool having point thinning

A tool shank for use with a cutting insert in a rotary cutting tool includes a body having, and adapted to be rotated about, a central longitudinal tool axis, the body having a tip portion structured to receive at least a portion of the cutting insert therein. The shank also includes a pair of chip flutes formed in the body and a pair of recesses, each recess bordering a respective chip flute. Each recess includes a rim portion extending perpendicular to the tool axis and a bearing surface extending at an incline relative to the tool axis. Each rim portion is adapted to engage a corresponding surface on the cutting insert. Each bearing surface is adapted to engage a corresponding bearing surface on the cutting insert in a manner such that the cutting insert is pulled against the body when the rotary cutting tool is rotated about the tool axis.

A rotary cutting tool that is composed of a tool shank with at least one chucking groove or chip flute and one exchangeable cutting insert. At the tip of the shank a recess for accommodating the cutting insert is provided. The tool shank, on its circumference, has a limb with a bearing surface that is inclined relative to the tool axis and that corresponds to a likewise inclined bearing surface on a wing of the cutting insert. The inclination of the bearing surfaces produces an axial force that retains the cutting insert on the tool shank.

A twist drill or rotary cutting device, in particular a drill, comprising a tool head or cutting insert consisting of a hard cutting material and a tool shaft which clamps the tool head between two clamp extensions that project axially from said tool shaft in such a way that the tool head is interchangeable. In the fixed position, the interconnected clamping surfaces of the tool head and the clamping extensions of the tool shaft lie on the surface of a truncated cone shaped fixing peg running coaxially with the longitudinal axis of the tool shaft.
