Disclosed is a medical imaging system, including a processor circuit configured for communication with an x-ray imaging device movable relative to a patient and an intravascular catheter or guidewire sized and shaped for positioning within a blood vessel of the patient, wherein the processor circuit is configured to receive a first angiographic image of a first length of the vessel and a second angiographic image of a second length of the vessel, wherein the first image is obtained at a first position and the second angiographic image is obtained at a second position. The processor is further configured to generate a roadmap image of a combined length of the blood vessel by combining the first image and the second image, and to receive intravascular data associated with the blood vessel, and to co-register the intravascular data to corresponding locations in the roadmap image; and output the roadmap image and a graphical representation of the intravascular data at the corresponding locations in the roadmap image.

Co-registration of intravascular data and multi-segment vasculature, and associated devices, systems, and methods

A co-registration system includes a processor circuit that receives x-ray fluoroscopy images of a blood vessel while an intravascular catheter moves through the blood vessel. The processor circuit also receives intravascular data from the intravascular catheter as the catheter moves through the blood vessel. The processor circuit generates a 2D pathway based on the fluoroscopy images. The processor circuit generates an additional 2D pathway from a 3D CT model. The processor circuit performs a co-registration between the intravascular data and the CT-based 2D pathway based on a mapping between corresponding locations of the fluoroscopy-based 2D pathway and the CT-based 2D pathway. The processor circuit performs an additional co-registration between the intravascular data and the 3D CT model based on the first co-registration and outputs the 3D model with a graphical representation of the intravascular data to a display.

Disclosed is an intraluminal imaging system, including an intraluminal imaging catheter or guidewire configured to be positioned within an anatomy of a patient, and a processor circuit in communication with the imaging catheter or guidewire, wherein the processor circuit is configured to receive a plurality of cross-sectional images of the anatomy from the imaging catheter or guidewire. The processor is further configured to compute, using image processing of at least one of the cross-sectional images, a value of the anatomy, estimate a cross-sectional shape of the anatomy to be circular, calculate a diameter of the anatomy based on the computed value and the estimated circular shape, and output the diameter of the anatomy to a display.

In certain aspects, systems and methods of the invention involve receiving functional flow data of a subject via a data collector co-located with a radiopaque label, receiving imaging data of the vasculature including the radiopaque label, generating a vasculature map corresponding to the functional flow data, and displaying the vasculature map image on a monitor.

Systems and methods for diagnosing coronary microvascular disease

Devices, systems, and methods for visually depicting a vessel and evaluating a physiological condition of the vessel are disclosed. One embodiment includes obtaining, at a first time, a first image of the vessel, the image being in a first medical modality, and obtaining, at a second time subsequent to the first time, a second image of the vessel, the image being in the first medical modality. The method also includes spatially co-registering the first and second images and outputting a visual representation of the co-registered first and second images on a display. Further, the method includes determining a physiological difference between the vessel at the first time and the vessel at the second time based on the co-registered first and second images, and evaluating the physiological condition of the vessel of the patient based on the determined physiological difference.

Devices, systems, and methods for vessel assessment

Systems, devices, and methods for controlling intravascular data acquisition are provided. For example, a co-registration process can be used to control the start and/or stop of intravascular data acquisition. In one embodiment, a system includes a processor circuit configured to generate a roadmap of the vessel, identify a region of interest of the vessel on the roadmap, determine whether the intravascular data acquisition device has entered the region of interest, and control the intravascular data acquisition device to obtain intravascular data of the region of interest. The processor can then output, to a display device, a graphical representation of the intravascular data of the region of interest.

Automated control of intraluminal data acquisition and associated devices, systems, and methods

Computer-implemented methods for use in improving the diagnostic quality of images, including intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) images, are disclosed. The methods include using a non-linear, probabilistic classifier algorithm to analyze a plurality of spatiotemporal features of RF backscatter and to produce a blood likelihood map or blood probability map that corresponds to the original IVUS image. The methods disclosed herein allow for visualizing both static and dynamic characteristic of a vessel either by producing a transparency modulated color overlay of the blood likelihood map without altering the underlying IVUS image or by processing the IVUS image based upon the blood likelihood map to better distinguish between static and dynamic components of the vessel.

The invention provides methods for detecting features of interest in cardiovascular images by receiving information from a first modality and transforming information from the first modality into a first coordinate space, receiving information from a second modality and transforming information from the second modality into a second coordinate space. The first coordinate space is aligned to the second coordinate space to combine information from the first modality and the second modality into a combined data set. The method can also involve detecting the feature of interest in a vascular image based on the combined data set.

Multimodal segmentation in intravascular images

The invention provides methods and systems for correcting translational distortion in a medical image of a lumen of a biological structure. The method facilitates vessel visualization in intravascular images (e.g. IVUS, OCT) used to evaluate the cardiovascular health of a patient. Using the methods and systems described herein it is simpler for a provider to evaluate vascular imaging data, which is typically distorted due to cardiac vessel-catheter motion while the image was acquired.
