A nuclear power plant comprising a primary coolant circuit, a steam-water circuit separated from the primary coolant circuit and a steam generator connected to the primary coolant circuit and the steam-water circuit to transfer heat from the primary coolant circuit into the steam-water circuit has at least one dosing point in the steam-water circuit to inject a reducing agent into the steam-water circuit, wherein the reducing agent is an organic compound consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Furthermore, a method for operating said nuclear power plant and the use of the method for downtime preservation of the secondary side of a steam generator of a nuclear power plant are provided.

A method for protecting the components of the primary system of a boiling water reactor, especially against stress cracking corrosion, includes feeding a reducing agent into the primary coolant in order to reduce the number of substances having a oxidizing effect or in order to modify the electrochemical potential of the component surfaces covered with an oxide layer to negative values. An alcohol that can be oxidized in the conditions of a reactor is fed in as a reducing agent, preferably in a liquid form, into the primary coolant. The component surfaces are provided with a blank coating or a single intrinsic oxide coating.

The corrosion of a component in a water-guiding loop of a nuclear facility is reduced. A protective layer is produced with a sol-gel process. Prior to the sol application, water that wettens the component is removed from the conduction system and the component is optionally dried in a separate step. After the sol-gel process has been carried out, the conduction system is again filled with water. A liquid sol film that is produced on the component is dried, especially by means of hot air. A component in the primary system of a boiling water reactor can especially be coated with a highly corrosion-resistant zirconium oxide protective layer according to the sol-gel process.

A method for the corrosion protection of steam generators having a housing containing feed water and enclosing a tube bundle with tubes conducting a heat carrier includes continuously determining the redox potential of the feed water during operation of the steam generator, continuously determining the corrosion potential of at least one tube of the tube bundle during operation of the steam generator, and negatively shifting the redox and corrosion potentials by changing the chemical conditioning of the feed water if the potentials indicate the danger of corrosion, and a device for carrying out the method.
