A method of coupling asynchronous process interaction between computer systems integrated within an overall system of interconnected systems includes receiving a set of information describing an invocation call for execution of a first process on a first system integrated within the overall system; correlating a first callback argument received upon completion of the first process that includes a first unique identifier for the first process generated by the first system with the set of information according to the first unique identifier for the first process; and sending a notification message to a callback endpoint in a second process implemented to receive notification upon completion of the first process by the first system indicating completion of the first process. The second process executing on a second system integrated within the overall system makes the invocation call. The set of information specifies the first unique identifier and the callback endpoint.

Coupling state aware systems

A method, device, and program product are provided for streaming a media file over a distributed information system to a client computer running a browser application. First, a server receives a request for a particular media file from the client computer. Then, the server dynamically generates a metafile, whereby said metafile contains information about the identification, location and format of the media file, and returns it back to the client computer. Advantageously, the server intercepts a download request for the actual media file and reinterprets the download request in into a request for receiving a corresponding metafile. Thus, instead of returning the requested media file, a metafile is returned that allows immediate streaming of the requested media file without the need of waiting for the download to be finished.

Method and device for streaming a media file over a distributed information system

Media Distribution within the Internet is done with the help of Application-Servers, Content-Servers and distributed Edge Servers where the clients are connected to Media Distribution Services. A computer system is provided comprising a client having a Web browser with a media player, a Web Application Server, content Edge Servers ESto ESand a Media Request Broker. After the client has selected a media for streaming, the Media Request Broker makes a determination concerning an appropriate Edge Server to perform the streaming operation. This determination is made based on an extension of the client's http request made by the Edge Server and passed from the Application Server to the Media Request Broker.
