In a medical, in particular dental turbine handpiece, having a supply line (8) and a discharge line (9) for the turbine compressed air, whereby a valve (12) is arranged in one line, which valve is controllable by a pneumatic parameter in the other line, the valve (12) is arranged in the discharge line (9) and is so controllable that it closes when a limit value of the parameter in the supply line (8) falls below a minimum value.

Medical, in particular dental turbine handpiece

In a medical or dental treatment instrument, in particular a straight or angled handpiece (1), having a drive shaft (6) for a tool, which drive shaft is mounted in the forward end region of the treatment instrument, in at least one roller bearing (11, 12), rotatable around its middle axis (8), and is drivable for example by a turbine, whereby the roller bearing (11, 12) is blocked or sealed against contaminants with of a blocking ring (31) effective between its outer ring (37) and its inner ring (34). The blocking ring (31) bears with its surface facing the inner ring (34) on the inner ring (34) and is releasibly or non-releasibly attached thereon.

Medical or dental treatment instrument

In a medical or dental instrument having a driven treatment tool and an illumination device with a lamp, in particular for the treatment area, wherein the lamp is mounted in a plug-in socket, the plug-in socket is formed by two spring elements biassed towards one another between which the lamp is mounted to swing freely. Alternatively at least one damping element can be arranged between the holder and the lamp or the holder can be mounted elastically on the base part.

Dental instrument with an illumination device

A dental handpiece having a gripping sleeve, a drive aggregate arranged in the handpiece for a dental treatment work tool retained in a head portion, and which includes its own built-in electrical light source. The light source, together with conduits for supply media, is arranged within an intermediate member which is exchangeably mounted between the gripping sleeve and the end member of a supply hose for the media for the handpiece. The light from the light source, with the aid of strand-like light conductors arranged interiorly of the handpiece, is conducted to the region of the handpiece head portion and exits therefrom the gripping sleeve directed towards the tooth treatment worktool, and in which the light source can be switched on and off through the intermediary of a compressed air-driven pneumatic switch device.

Dental handpiece having own electrical light source

A compressed-air dental motor includes a housing, a rotor, a compressed air inlet conduit supplying compressed air for placing the rotor into rotation, and a rotor shaft in the rotor connectable with a work tool, such as a drill. A valve member in the housing associated with the compressed-air inlet conduit is adapted to vary the inlet of compressed air for each unit of time, and an adjusting device is provided for controlling the valve member. The rotor shaft includes an axially displaceable component for controlling the valve member in direct mechanical dependence upon the torque at the work tool so as to form the adjusting device into a torque-dependent adjusting device.

Compressed-air dental motor

A dental handpiece operable by compressed air having a turbine rotor, a drive sleeve for holding a dental instrument and coupled with the rotor by a ball-type planetary transmission, and an adjustment member operable on the planetary transmission so as to increase the torque transmissible by the planetary transmission. The transmission comprises inner and outer rings, with the balls frictionally engaged therebetween, the balls being in drive transmitting relationship with the rotor or the drive sleeve. A first of the rings is non-rotatable and a second of the rings is coupled with whichever of the rotor or drive sleeve is not associated with the balls. One of the rings is axially moveable relative to the other ring by the adjustment member in order to increase the radial load applied between the inner and outer rings through the intermediary of the balls whereby the torque transmitted by the planetary transmission can be increased. A pressure chamber is defined on one side of the adjustment member and receives a supply of compressed air in order to move the adjustment member with consequential axial movement of said one ring.

Dental handpiece operable by compressed air

A dental handpiece which includes a head and a holding sleeve associated therewith. The holding sleeve incorporates therein gaseous and liquid coolant lines each of which is in communication with a mixing line in turn in communication with one or more discharge nozzles for discharging an air-water coolant spray. Each of the gaseous and liquid coolant lines is provided with throttle means which serves to reduce the effective cross-sectional areas thereof.
