An overvoltage protection spark gap assembly includes a first overvoltage protection spark gap () which has a first main terminal (a) and a second main terminal (b); and a second overvoltage protection spark gap (') which has a third main terminal (a′) and a fourth main terminal (b′). The second main terminal (b) and the third main terminal (a′) are electrically connected together. A first electrically conductive probe device (K) is introduced into a wear part () of the first overvoltage protection spark gap () such that, in the event of a specific degree of wear, the first electrically conductive probe device (K) comes electrically into contact with an arc () in the first overvoltage protection spark gap (). The second overvoltage protection spark gap (′) has a second electrically conductive probe device () which comes electrically into contact with an arc in the second overvoltage protection spark gap (′).

The invention relates to an arrangement for overload protection for overvoltage protection equipment that has at least one voltage-limiting element and at least one voltage-switching element, and optionally with a back-up fuse, wherein the voltage-limiting element is in the form of a varistor and the voltage-switching element is in the form of a spark gap and these elements are connected in series. According to the invention, to protect against inadmissible pulsed currents, the voltage-limiting element in the series circuit has a monitoring spark gap, forming a bypass, connected in parallel with it. Furthermore, a monitoring device, e.g. a thermal monitoring device, is provided that bypasses both the monitoring spark gap and the voltage-switching element in the event of ageing effects, inadmissibly high mains voltages and/or low-energy, periodic, high-frequency overvoltages.

Arrangement for overload protection for overvoltage protection equipment

The invention relates to a defect indicator for an electronic device, in particular a surge arrester, comprising at least two thermal overcurrent protection devices which respond to different fault or overload states and each have a mechanical actuating device for triggering the fault signalling, wherein the mechanical actuating device is in the form of a bolt or pin which acts on a fault signalling element. According to the invention, the at least two overcurrent protection devices are arranged relative to one another in such a manner that the direction vectors of the bolts or pins intersect in an imaginary extension of the movement path thereof, wherein the particular bolt or pin acts on a respectively provided surface side of a displaceable armature and the armature occupies a variable position in the movement path. The armature also has a further surface side which, in the event of an armature movement, in turn acts on the fault signalling element and displaces the latter, for example, and this further surface side comprises at least one wedge slope for this purpose in order to change the direction of force on account of the movement of one of the bolts or pins.

The invention relates to a device for surge-current-resistant terminal contacting of electrical components (), in particular components of rotationally symmetrical form, wherein the components, on the lateral surface thereof, have spaced-apart contacting portions (), also comprising two U-shaped, electrically conductive contact pads () which have a partial surface () which is complementary to the contour of the respective contacting portion of the electrical component. According to the invention, each contact pad is assigned a U-shaped spring clip which likewise has a partial surface () which is complementary to the contour of the respective contacting portion of the electrical component, wherein said partial surface is provided in the connecting portion between legs (') of the U-shaped spring clip. In the assembled state, the U legs of the spring clip protrude between the lateral surface of the electrical component and the respective U leg of the respective contact pad and are fixed with respect to one another in a latching manner.

Device for surge-current-resistant thermal contacting of electrical components

The invention relates to a spark gap comprising a number of series-connected individual spark gaps which are placed in a stack arrangement, which are spaced apart from each other by insulating material discs and are provided with a spring contact, the individual spark gaps including ring-shaped or disc-shaped electrodes, and further comprising control elements for influencing the voltage distribution over the stack arrangement. According to the invention the ring-shaped or disc-shaped electrodes required to form one of the respective individual spark gaps are each inserted into an insulating body and held by same in a centered manner. The respective insulating material discs are located between and fixed by the insulating bodies. A recess is provided inside the insulating body to receive and center the electrodes, whose shape is complementary relative to the contour of the respective electrode, wherein the recess comprises on the inner circumference at least partially elastic, resilient centering projections or centering noses.

The invention relates to a plug-in combination of appliances for protecting against overvoltages, said combination of appliances comprising: a socket-type lower part and at least one plug-in module, which can both receive overvoltage protection elements; contact elements and contact counter elements that are respectively arranged in the lower part and in the plug-in module; and complementary guide rails or guide grooves for inserting or pushing-on and fixing the respective plug-in module. According to the invention, functionally separated, mechanical catch or snap-in elements act between the respective plug-in module and the socket-type lower part independently of the forces which hold together the contact elements and the contact counter elements in a positively fixed and/or non-positively fixed manner when the plug-in module is in use. The catch or snap-in function can be cancelled without any mechanical auxiliary means when the respective plug-in module is to be replaced.

Plug-in combination of appliances for protecting against overvoltages

A compact arrangement for multipole, surge-protected surge arresters, including internally wired, encapsulated series gaps arranged essentially in parallel in a housing. The series gaps have opposite-lying, projecting contact surfaces connected to outer terminals and inner contact bars or bridges. An electronic control or trigger circuit is located on a wiring support. The housing includes dividing walls and has a trough shape, the resulting housing chambers accommodating the gaps and terminals. An insulating plate with openings into which spring contact elements are introduced is provided on the housing trough which opens upwards. Located above the insulating plate is the wiring. The spring contact elements create the electrical connection between contact points on the underside of the wiring support and the cover of one of the series gaps, respectively. Further, an encapsulated surge protector includes a series gap arrangement with two metallic main electrodes lying coaxially to each other and at least partially overlapping each other and having connections in opposite directions. The main electrodes form an arc chamber in conjunction with at least one insulation part. At least one of the main electrodes has an inner expansion chamber and a trigger electrode extending preferably radially or axially rotationally symmetrically is provided at least in the area of an outer insulation part.

Compact arrangement for multipole, surge-proof surge arresters and encapsulated surge arrester for the same

A spark-gap arrangement encapsulated in a pressure-proof housing, for diverting harmful disturbances due to overvoltage, including at least two electrodes disposed substantially opposite one another in a housing that is conductive or provided with a conductive coating, between which a discharge space is formed and which are insulated from the housing. In accordance with the spark-gap arrangement a trigger voltage to form a subsidiary spark gap in the discharge space can be applied directly by the conductive housing, so that by the subsidiary spark gap the main spark gap between the main electrodes can be ignited.
