A method and apparatus for manufacturing a pack for flowable contents in a deep draw process having tubular side walls, a bottom and a top. The top has a pouring opening having an upstanding collar and a seam that passes around the pack in a plane that is oriented in the top so that the plane is interrupted by the pouring opening and projects on diametrically oppositely disposed sides almost as far as a free upper edge of the collar. The collar is formed of two collar halves joined together at the seam, and threads are provided on the collar for a screw top. An annular fitting sealing surface is provided on the free upper edge of the collar

Method and apparatus for manufacturing a pack for flowable contents

A pack for flowable contents, such as liquids, has tubular side walls, a bottom and a top wall, and is formed of a deep-drawable plastics material. The top includes a vertically upstanding, externally threaded collar and defines a pouring opening which is closable by a threaded top. The pack is formed by two half shells, and a seam passes around the pack in a longitudinal plane and extends nearly to the top free upper edge of the collar. The seam is interrupted in the top by the pouring opening and projects outwardly from diametrically opposite sides of the pack. According to a method for forming the pack of the invention, the collar is formed by two collar halves which are joined together at the seam. Threads are formed on the collar and the upper free edge includes an annular sealing surface for a correspondingly formed screw top.

A description is given of an apparatus for forming and deep-drawing the neck region at the edge of a plastics half shell, having a deep-drawing tool (3) and a counter-pressure plate (2) which are movable in two directions relative to each other, wherein the deep-drawing tool (3) embraces a deep-drawing cavity (29) in shell-like manner and has a recess (30) in the side wall (31) at the edge (32). So that deformation of the collar at the edge of the plastics half shell and also over-heating of the plastics plate for forming the half shell are avoided, according to the invention it is provided that the counter-pressure plate (2) has at least one opening (16) in the contact face (17) facing the deep-drawing tool. (3), the opening having an adjacent receiving space (19) therebehind, in which an elastic mould part (25) which is movable into at least two positions (III) is arranged in such a way that in the first retracted position (III) it is disposed flush to the rear of the contact face (17) and in the second sealed position it projects into the recess (30) at the edge (32) of the deep-drawing tool (3).

An apparatus for feeding sheet-shaped blanks (9) of deep-drawable synthetic plastic material to the receiving station of a deep-drawing machine having a plurality of suction plates (15) wherein a supply roll (2) holding a web (1) of synthetic plastic material which is capable of being intermittently driven by pairs (3, 4, 23) of drive rollers and moved in front of a cutting means (5) having on its downstream side a magazine (8), a movable flap (11) provided with suckers (33) and a first supporting plate (13) being adapted to be brought into engagement with the removal side of the magazine (8), a second movable supporting plate (16) provided with suckers (33) being disposed on the other side, guide means (35) being provided in order to feed the blanks (9) from the movable flap (11) and round onto the opposite side of the suction plate (15) to the second supporting plate (16).
