Composite material

A textile composite material is used as tuft backing for tufted carpets, the composite material having at least one nonwoven fabric on which exclusively parallel-running, straight, load-absorbing, plastic, continuous filaments are rascheled, and a thin binding yarn serving as a knitting chain fixing the continuous filaments in position.

Tuft backing

A spunbonded fabric comprises continuous thermoplastic filaments, which adhere to one another at their intersecting points without binder, and whose material comprises at least 50 weight % biodegradable polycaprolactone having a mean molecular weight of from 35,000 to 70,000. In the production process of the spunbonded fabric, no additional stabilization step is necessary after the filaments are deposited.

Disclosed is a process for producing a surgical sponge which contains contrast agent embedded in a polymer matrix in proportions of up to 70 wt. %. The matrix consists of a polymer material free of plasticizers. In the process for the production of the sponge a matrix for the contrast agent is used, which is an uncrosslinked, viscous liquid, prepolymer state until after it has been extruded onto the basic fleece material, and not until a process step that then follows is the polymerization completed.

Disclosed is an absorbent body of nonwoven material formed of randomly distributed thermoplastic endless filaments which contain embedded hydrophilic or oleophilic staple fibers and in some cases swelling particles. Also disclosed is a one-step process for the production of the absorbent body.
