The present invention relates to an article comprising metal coated with an aqueous dispersion of polyolefin particles as well as metal coated with a polyolefin film arising from this dispersion. More particularly the polyolefin particles of the present invention are predominantly polypropylene particles.

The instant invention provides a coated container device, and method of making the same. The coated container device according to the instant invention comprises: (1) a metal substrate; and (2) one or more crosslinked coating layers associated with the metal substrate, wherein the one or more crosslinked coating layers are derived from the application of one or more aqueous dispersions to at least one surface of the metal substrate, and wherein the one or more aqueous dispersion comprise: (a) one or more a base polymer; (b) one or more a stabilizing agent; (c) optionally one or more neutralizing agents, (d) one or more crosslinking agents; and (e) water.

Coated container device, method of making the same

The instant invention provides an aqueous dispersion, a coating composition, coating layers and coated article made therefrom. The coating composition according to the present invention comprises: (1) the inventive aqueous dispersion comprising the melt blending product of: (a) from 50 to 99 percent by weight of one or more first polyesters, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said one or more first polyesters have an acid number in the range of from less than 15, for example less than 10, or in the alternative less than 5, based on the total solid content of the one or more first polyesters; (b) from 1 to 50 percent by weight of one or more stabilizing agents comprising at least one second polyester, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said second polyester has a carboxylic acid group and an acid number equal to or greater than 15, for example greater than 20, based on the solid content of the second polyester; (c) one or more neutralizing agents; and (d) from 15 to 90 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the dispersion; wherein said dispersion has a solid content of 10 to 85 percent, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and (2) one or more cross-linking agents.

Coating composition and articles made therefrom

The present disclosure provides for an aqueous dispersion for use in coating applications. The aqueous dispersion includes an aqueous composition and a solid content of a melt blend product having an acid functionalized polypropylene base polymer, a polypropylene copolymer, an acid functionalized polypropylene wax and an acid functionalized polyolefin. The aqueous dispersion is included in a coating composition, where the coating composition includes the aqueous dispersion, a solvent, a crosslinker and a basic water composition having water and a base. The present disclosure also provides for a coated article having a substrate and a coating on the substrate, where the coating includes the coating composition of the present disclosure.

Coating compositions

The present invention provides aqueous polyolefin dispersion compositions for use in metal coatings, such as can coatings, comprising one or more polyolefin base polymer, one or more at least partially neutralized olefinic stabilizing agent having an acid number (AN) of from 80 to 250, preferably, a polyolefin stabilizing agent, such as an olefin-carboxylic acid copolymer or a blend of two such polymers, an optional coupling agent having an acid number (AN) of from 10 to 70 and a melt index of from 500 to 5,000,000 grams of polymer melt passing in 10 minutes through a heated syringe or cylinder at 190&#xb0; C. with a plunger loaded with 2.16 kg, preferably, a polymer, and a hindered phenolic antioxidant containing an ester linkage dispersed in the polyolefin dispersion composition. The hindered phenolic antioxidant containing an ester linkage can be masterbatched with a polyolefin base polymer, polyolefin stabilizing agent or a coupling agent which is a polymer, melt mixed with the remaining polyolefin composition and then dispersed with aqueous media and a neutralizing agent to form the aqueous dispersion.

Water borne polyolefin dispersion coatings, and methods of making

The instant invention provides a polyester composition, method of producing the same, coating compositions made therefrom, and coating layers made from such coatings. The thermoset polyester composition according to the present inventions comprises the reaction product of: (a) one or more polyacids comprising at least 50 percent by the combined weight of one or more aromatic diacids; and (b) one or more polyols comprising at least 40 percent by the combined weight of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 2,2,4,4-tetramethylcyclobutanediol; wherein said polyester composition has a glass transition temperature in the range of from 70 to 125&#xb0; C., a number average molecular weight between 6,000 and 20,000, a hydroxyl number in the range of from 4 to 18.

Polyeste composition and method of producing the same

The instant invention provides an aqueous dispersion, a coating composition, coating layers and coated article made therefrom. The coating composition according to the present invention comprises: (1) the inventive aqueous dispersion comprising the melt blending product of: (a) from 50 to 99 percent by weight of one or more polyethylene terephthalate resins, based on the total solid content of the dispersion; (b) from 1 to 50 percent by weight of one or more stabilizing agents comprising at least one second polyester, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said second polyester (i) has a carboxylic acid group and an acid number equal to or greater than 15, based on the solid content of the second polyester; or (ii) is a self-dispersing sulfopolyester; (c) one or more neutralizing agents; and (d) from 15 to 90 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the dispersion; wherein said dispersion has a solid content of 10 to 85 percent, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and (2) optionally one or more cross-linking agents.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards coating compositions comprising from 50 to 85 percent of an aqueous dispersion based on a total weight of the coating composition, an abrasion reducing composition, a solvent, a basic water composition, and a crosslinker.

A liquid polycarbonate coating composition including an aliphatic polycarbonate resin and a cross linking compound, said aliphatic polycarbonate resin being derived from, in the presence of a catalyst, an aliphatic polyol which comprises (a) from 50 to 100% by weight of the aliphatic polyol, one or more cycloaliphatic polyols that consist essentially of primary hydroxyl groups and (b) from 0 to 50% by weight of the aliphatic polyol, one or more linear aliphatic polyols, is provided. Polycarbonate coatings for metal packaging

A dispersion having from one to sixty percent by weight of total dispersion of a solids component dispersed in an organic continuous phase is useful as a coating for substrates. The solids component contains 40-95 weight-percent of a polyolefin containing only carbon and hydrogen and that has a number average molecular weight that is greater than 400 gram per mole, 5-40 weight-percent of an amine salt of a functionalized polyolefin; and 0-20 weight-percent of optional additives, wherein weight-percent is based on total weight of solids and wherein the dispersed particles have an average particle size of less than 35 micrometers and the organic phase is a dispersion support medium for the polyolefin and amine salt of a functionalized polyolefin.
