An optical resonator system includes a multi-strip waveguide structure having spaced semiconductor strips for guiding an IR radiation, a STP resonance structure (STP=slab tamm-plasmon-polariton), wherein the STP resonance structure includes an alternating arrangement of semiconductor strips and interjacent dielectric strips and includes a metal strip adjacent to the semiconductor strip at a boundary region of the STP resonance structure, wherein the metal strip and the adjacent semiconductor strip are arranged to provide a metal-semiconductor interface, and wherein the semiconductor strips of the multi-strip waveguide structure and the semiconductor strips of the STP resonance structure are arranged perpendicular to each other, and an optical coupling structure having a semiconductor layer, wherein the semiconductor layer is arranged between the multi-strip waveguide structure and the STP resonance structure for optically coupling the IR radiation between the multi-strip waveguide structure and the STP resonance structure.

An apparatus and a method are disclosed for producing an electric terminal contact on a coated sheet, whose coating has at least one electric conductor path covered by an electrical insulation layer, in which apparatus and method a recess is produced extending through the insulation layer at least to the electrical conductor path and in this recess, an electrically conductive contact element is provided, one end of which is electrically connected to the conductor path and at the other end of which forms the electrical terminal contact. In order to increase the reproducibility, the proposal is made for the recess to be produced with the aid of a hollow needle, which is advanced in the direction toward the conductor path and which, as it is withdrawn from the recess, introduces an electrically conductive, viscous compound into this recess in order to produce the contact element.

A strain gauge and a metal strip having such a strain gauge, which has a first measuring grid, a second measuring grid, and a substrate on which these two measuring grids are positioned in a common plane. A metal strip and a coil coating process for multilayer coating of an endless metal strip are disclosed in which a curable polymer primer is applied to a flat side of the metal strip with the aid of a roller application in order to form an electrically insulating primer layer, a curable polymer varnish is applied to this primer layer with the aid of a roller application and cured in order to form an electrically insulating varnish layer, and at least one electric conductor layer is printed at least in some areas between the primer layer and the varnish layer. In order to enable a stable and inexpensive electrical functionalization of a metal strip, it is proposed that an electrically polarizable layer be applied to at least some regions of the electric conductor layer and that the electric conductor layer and electrically polarizable layer be applied by means of a wet-on-wet process.

A semiconductor device comprises a plurality of quantum structures comprising predominantly germanium. The plurality of quantum structures are formed on a first semiconductor layer structure. The quantum structures of the plurality of quantum structures have a lateral dimension of less than 15 nm and an area density of at least 8&#xd7;10quantum structures per cm. The plurality of quantum structures are configured to emit light with a light emission maximum at a wavelength of between 2 &#x3bc;m and 10 &#x3bc;m or to absorb light with a light absorption maximum at a wavelength of between 2 &#x3bc;m and 10 &#x3bc;m.

Semiconductor devices, a fluid sensor and a method for forming a semiconductor device

A coil coating method for multilayer coating of a continuous metal strip, which is disposed in the strip passage, in which on a flat side of the metal strip, a curable polymer primer is applied by means of a roller application and cured in order to form an electrically insulating primer layer and a curable polymer varnish is applied onto said primer layer by means of roller application and cured in order to form an electrically insulating varnish layer, wherein at least one at least electrically conductive conductor track is printed on at least some areas between the primer layer and the varnish layer is proposed. In order to increase the reproducibility of the coil coating method, it is proposed that the conductor track be printed on some areas of the pre-cured primer layer and that the conductor track and varnish be applied using a wet-on-wet process.

A sensor system having coupling structures is disclosed. The system includes an input coupling structure, an interaction region, and an output coupling structure. The input coupling structure is configured to receive emitted light at a selected coupling efficiency and may provide filtering of the emitted light for a selected wavelength. The interaction region is coupled to the input coupling structure and configured to interact the light from the input coupling structure with a specimen. The output coupling structure is coupled to the interaction region and configured to provide interacted light from the interaction region to the detector.

A sensor system having a multi-pass interaction region is disclosed. The system includes an input region, a multi-pass region, and an output region. The input region is configured to receive emitted light. The multi-pass region is coupled to the input region and is configured to absorb portions of the emitted light according to a specimen proximate the multi-pass region. Liquid sensing systems and methods using a ring resonator sensor

Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an infrared (IR) opto-electronic sensor having a silicon waveguide implemented on a single silicon integrated chip. The IR sensor has a semiconductor substrate having a silicon waveguide extends along a length between a radiation input conduit and a radiation output conduit. The radiation input conduit couples radiation into the silicon waveguide, while the radiation output conduit couples radiation out from the silicon waveguide. The silicon waveguide conveys the IR radiation from the radiation input conduit to the radiation output conduit at a single mode. As the radiation is conveyed by the silicon waveguide, an evanescent field is formed that extends outward from the silicon waveguide to interact with a sample positioned between the radiation input conduit and the radiation output conduit.
