A bodywork frame for a motor vehicle, in particular a passenger car, has two lateral load bearing columns. The columns are supported on each other at a roof side via a pressure-stable cross member and at a floor side on a longitudinal tunnel and via pressure-stable seat cross members.

Bodywork frame for a motor vehicle

A supporting pillar for a body frame of a passenger motor vehicle comprises a pillar-shaped hollow body with at least one profile shell. In the hollow body, a tubular body is arranged which essentially extends longitudinally through the hollow body and is attached to it. A lower region of the tubular body is held in a bracket attached to the profile shell. The bracket comprises two walls spaced apart from each other longitudinally. Each wall comprises a receiving aperture into which the lower region of the tubular body has been inserted, with the tubular body being attached at the receiving aperture to this bracket. The tubular body rests against, and is attached to the profile shell along a straight line, and is inclined in relation to a vertical line perpendicular to the walls of the bracket. The tubular body has an elbow between its lower region, and the region resting against the profile shell along the line.

Supporting pillar for a body frame of a motor vehicle

An arrangement for contacting of electronic components (for example, seat occupation detection sensors, buckle switches) in a removable vehicle seat which can be mechanically detached from its vehicle-body-side anchoring by means of a seat unlocking device. In order to unlock the seat, a plug-type connection must first be separated manually by the operator. Only then will the unlocking of the seat be released. In another embodiment, an electric plug-type connection is provided which, during the installation and removal of the seat, automatically makes or breaks contact because of the relative movement of the seat.

Arrangement for contacting electronic components in a removable vehicle seat

A deformation element in a motor vehicle, especially for a dashboard, comprises at least one deformation body with a honeycomb cross section and encloses a cavity which is open on both sides. The wall of the cross section is closed all the way around, and is deformable to absorb energy and is subjected to an impact in the vicinity of one honeycomb side of the cross section for that purpose. The wall of the deformation body is formed from at least two partial sections connected with one another.

Deformation element for a motor vehicle dashboard and the like

A panel is inserted into a cutout in the visible boundary wall of a fascia, in particular in a motor-vehicle dashboard, which panel contains an airbag cover which is delimited with respect to the panel and is pressed open in the event of a crash by means of an inflating airbag sack. The panel is secured releasably at least in some regions along the contour of the airbag cover and, in the process, outside the airbag cover, in a manner which is invisible from the vehicle interior, by latching projections being provided which are molded integrally onto the rear side of said panel and engage into associated sockets which are not supported on the visible boundary wall of the fascia.

Motor vehicle dashboard assembly

A gas bag for a side airbag module which is inflatable by means of a filling device and which consists of at least two chambers in communication with each other. A check strip is provided as a wall between the two respective chambers. The check strip is attached by its edges to opposite surfaces of the gas bag. The ends of the strip do not extend to the periphery of the gas bag allowing the chambers to communicate with each other and thereby allowing gas to pass from one chamber to the other. When the gas bag is inflated, the check strip has a path running at least partially deviating from a straight line. The edges of the strip may also run in different directions. As a result, the gas bag may be simply subdivided into chambers of different size and shape. Consequently, the shape of the inflated gas bag is influenced.

Known cross members consisting of an alloy press-drawn section do not permit easy assembly of the passenger airbag module or other bolt-on parts after the cross members have been installed. Accordingly, the press-drawn section of the cross member is provided with at least one groove open at the top in such fashion that a rib or a bar of a bolt-on part can be added from above such that simple pivoting enables a seating surface of the cross member to cooperate with a mounting surface of the bolt-on part in the installed state. Assembly is extremely simple. The cross members are used for the instrument panels of motor vehicles.

A safety device is provided for a vehicle with a removable seat, especially a passenger seat, with an occupant restraint device associated with the seat. In addition, a seat occupation detection device located in the seat is provided that detects various states of seat occupation, especially by a person or by a child seat, and delivers a corresponding seat occupation status signal through a signal interface to a triggering control device located in the vehicle. The triggering control device takes the seat occupation status into account in delivering the triggering signal, especially to determine the scope of triggering of the restraint device. A seat installation detection device is provided that detects the proper installation of the seat and delivers a corresponding seat installation status signal to the triggering control device. The status signal permits the triggering control device, through a logical link with another status signal that indicates the correct signal transmission at the signal interface, to detect the actual presence or absence of the seat as well as a variety of defective states and to adjust accordingly the delivery of the triggering signal emitted in the case of a serious accident.

A knee protection device in a motor vehicle having a dimensionally stable, cushioned and essentially plate-shaped load distributor which is supported on the end side by curved deformable holders on a cross member fixed to the vehicle. The energy absorption capacity of the two holders is fully utilized by spanning a reinforcement on the back side of the load distributor. The reinforcement has an approximately hat-shaped cross-section, extends at least near the holders and has outwardly projecting flanges which are connected with the load distributor.

A flexible support has one fixed end in a vehicle interior, and another end projecting freely into the passenger compartment on which an impact protector is fixed. In a flexing direction, the flexible support has spaced upper and lower belts, which are connected with each other by ribs to form hollow spaces. One belt extends along a straight line and the other belt is configured with protrusions and/or depressions between adjacent ribs in the direction toward the straight belt.

Vehicle interior support

An instrument panel with knee restraint for motor vehicles has a pair of deformation bars which can be deformed in a defined manner with respect to three zones, a load-distributing panel, and a large-surface-area impact-absorption member arranged in front of the load-distributing panel. In order to achieve an inexpensive knee restraint which does not require a redesign of the instrument panel configuration when the knee restraint is mounted on the instrument panel, the deformation bars are arranged on that side of the instrument panel remote from the vehicle interior and are supported, by one leg on the rear surface of the instrument panel and another leg on the transverse carrier fixed to the bodywork. The impact-absorption member is a shell-like carrier part positioned on that side of the instrument panel facing the vehicle interior. A cavity is defined and completely filled by an energy-absorbing insert, e.g. consisting of foam, which forms the energy-absorption element.

Deformation bar for energy-absorbing support

A deformation sensor for a safety device for the protection of vehicle occupants against a side-on collision is disclosed. The deformation sensor is composed of two pressure-sensitive signal elements arranged in parallel and one behind the other, so that the deformation speed can be concluded from the time sequence of the sensor signals. The signal elements ace integrated into a protective strip of the vehicle mounted on the outside of the shell. This ensures a rapid response in the event of a collision, and moreover the assembly of the deformation sensor becomes much easier. The signal elements take the form of FSR foil pressure sensors (Force Sensing Resistor).
