In order to minimize the maintenance effort that accompanies discharge and comminution of a chip, an apparatus for discharge and comminution of a chip has a chip guide and a comminution apparatus, to which the chip guide guides the chip along a chip path. The chip guide has a guide channel that circumferentially surrounds the chip path having a channel inlet and a channel outlet, wherein the guide channel has a maintenance opening in addition to the channel inlet and the channel outlet. Furthermore, a method for discharge and comminution of a chip for this purpose services the guide channel by way of the maintenance opening after discharge and comminution of a chip having a predetermined chip length.

An internal tool for bending a strip passing in a strip-travel direction into a tube has a support juxtaposable with a face of the passing strip, at least two roller holders pivotal on the support about respective offset holder pivot axes generally parallel to the strip-travel direction, and respective rollers carried in the holders and rotatable about respective roller axes generally perpendicular to the respective holder axes.

Internal roller tool for bending a strip into a tube

The invention relates to a device () for production of a tube () with a polygonal, preferably rectangular cross-section, comprising a tube welding unit (), in which the tube () is formed from a sheet metal strip and welded at the resulting jointing position and a rolling unit (), connected to the tube welding unit () in the transport direction (R) of the tube (), which essentially rolls the tube () into the desired polygonal cross-sectional contour. According to the invention, right-angled tubes may be produced with the optimal geometry, whereby a camber rolling unit () is arranged in series with the rolling unit () in the transport direction (R) of the tube (), by means of which at least two opposing tube sides () may be rolled with a pair of crowned convex rollers ().

Device for production of a tube

One of a pair of rolls of a roll stand is formed with an axially throughgoing central hole through which passes a drive shaft having a pair of ends. A coupling at one end of the drive shaft rotates same and the one roll. This one roll can be shifted, normally vertically, between a use position closely juxtaposed with the other roll and a change position spaced away from the other roll and with the roll resting on supports. An entrainment fitting on the carriage can fit with and axially connect to an entrainment element of the drive shaft in the change position of the other roll. An actuator can shift the carriage from an inner position into an outer position and thereby pull the drive shaft out of the one roll and leave the one roll resting on the supports.

Roll stand

The invention relates to a method for changing sets of top rolls, lateral rolls, and a bottom roll, and mounted in chocks of a welding stand of a continuously operating longitudinal tube welding machine. The inventive method enables the rolls to be changed faster, using less appliances. Said method comprises the following steps: the top rolls are lifted; a dismantling/transport means is placed beneath the top rolls; the top rolls are lowered onto the dismantling/transport means and deposited on the same; and, once the top rolls have been removed, the dismantling/transport means is laterally withdrawn.

Method and device for changing the rolls of a tube welding stand

A looper for thick metal strip has a large-diameter outer basket centered on an upright axis and a small-diameter inner basket axially above the outer basket and centered on an upright axis. The strip is fed on edge and generally tangentially into the outer basket to form therein a large-diameter spiral having an inner end. Then the strip is fed upward from the spiral inner end around the inner basket and is finally pulled tangentially from the inner basket. The strip is straightened generally as it leaves the inner basket.

Looping thick steel strip
