A system for sensing at least one object in the surroundings of a motor vehicle, includes at least one first sensor for classifying the at least one object, the ability of the at least one first sensor to carry out classification depending on the brightness of the at least one object; at least one second sensor for detecting the at least one object; and at least one actuator for increasing the brightness of the at least one object. The system is designed to increase the brightness of the at least one object by the at least one actuator when the at least one second sensor detects the at least one object and the at least one first sensor cannot classify the at least one object.

Sensing an object in the surroundings of a motor vehicle

An active I/Q generator circuit comprises an input node for receiving a reference oscillation signal. The circuit has an I-output and a Q-output for respectively outputting an I-signal and a Q-signal. A first active component is electrically coupled to the input node and arranged to amplify the reference oscillation signal and to output an amplified reference oscillation signal. A second active component is electrically coupled to the first active component to receive the amplified reference oscillation signal. The second active component is arranged to generate, based on the amplified reference oscillation signal, an in-phase signal and a, with respect to the in-phase signal, phase shifted signal, the second active component electrically coupled to the in-phase signal output for providing the in-phase signal and electrically coupled to the quadrature-phase output for providing the phase-shifted signal.

Active IQ and quadrature generator for high frequency applications

The invention relates to a buffer circuit for a receiver device including a transconductance stage and an output stage coupled in parallel to output stages of other channels of the device. The output of the transconductance stage is connected to a base of a bipolar transistor in the output stage. A switch is connected between the base of the bipolar transistor and the emitter of the bipolar transistor. A controller is arranged to switch the buffer circuit from a switch-off mode to a switch-on mode and back. In switch-off mode the switch is switched on, so as to connect the base and the emitter of the bipolar transistor.

Emitter follower buffer with reverse-bias protection

An integrated circuit includes a signal line for carrying a radio frequency signal; a coupling line inductively coupled to the signal line for delivering an induced signal in dependence on the radio frequency signal; a connecting line connected to a pick-off point of the coupling line for picking off the induced signal from the coupling line; and a conductive part for shielding the coupling line against electromagnetic interference and for enhancing inductive coupling between the signal line and the coupling line. The conductive part may have a uniform flat surface facing the coupling line. The signal line may extend parallel to the surface. The coupling line may extend parallel to the signal line and may be arranged between the surface and the signal line.

Integrated circuit for generating or processing a radio frequency signal

A phased-array receiver comprises a plurality of analog beamforming receive channels, each comprising an antenna element arranged to receive a radio frequency signal and a channel output arranged to provide an analog channel output signal. At least one of the plurality of analog beamforming receive channels comprises an in-phase downconversion mixing circuit connected to the antenna element and a local oscillator source and arranged to provide a downconverted in-phase signal to a phase rotation circuit, and a quadrature downconversion mixing circuit connected to the antenna element and the local oscillator source and arranged to provide a downconverted quadrature signal to the phase rotation circuit. The phase rotation circuit is arranged to provide to the channel output a phase-shifted analog output signal generated from the downconverted in-phase signal and the downconverted quadrature signal.

Phased-array receiver, radar system and vehicle

An integrated circuit for cancelling a radio frequency transmit leakage signal comprises: a transmitter portion comprising at least one amplifier stage for transmitting a radio frequency signal to an antenna port; and a first coupler arranged to operably couple the transmitter portion, the antenna port and a receiver portion. The receiver portion is arranged to receive a first composite signal that comprises a received radio frequency signal from the antenna port and the transmit leakage signal. The receiver portion comprises: a first down-conversion circuit arranged to receive the first composite signal and a local oscillator signal such that the first down-conversion circuit outputs a down-converted composite signal at a first intermediate frequency signal; and a second coupler arranged to receive the down-converted first composite signal at the first intermediate frequency signal and a phase shifted version of the local oscillator signal such that the phase shifted version of the local oscillator signal is arranged to cancel at least a portion of the transmit leakage signal from the down-converted first composite signal.

Integrated circuit, transceiver and method for leakage cancellation in a receive path

An integrated circuit comprises a receiver and an oscillator circuit. The receiver has a first input port for receiving a first oscillatory input signal, a second input port for receiving a second oscillatory input signal, and an output port for delivering an oscillatory output signal which is a function of both the first input signal and the second input signal. The oscillator circuit has a first output port for delivering a first oscillatory signal, and a second output port for delivering a second oscillatory signal. The first output port of the oscillator circuit is coupled to the HF port, and the second output port of the oscillator circuit is coupled to the LO port. The integrated circuit may be designed such that the HF port may be disconnected from the first output port of the oscillator circuit without affecting the operability of the receiver. An apparatus for testing the proper functioning of an integrated circuit as described above and a method of producing a receiver are also disclosed. The method may facilitate testing a receiver die during production. In particular it may avoid the need for feeding high-frequency signals from an external apparatus to the die.

Integrated testing circuitry for high-frequency receiver integrated circuits

A multichannel receiver system comprises a first plurality of receiver circuits, each having a first input connected to a corresponding one of a second plurality of input lines, each being arranged to provide a corresponding one of a third plurality of received signals; a second input connected to a local oscillator arranged to provide a local oscillator signal; and an output arranged to provide a corresponding one of a fourth plurality of output signals; and an upconversion mixer having a first mixer input for receiving a reference signal; a second mixer input connected to the local oscillator; and a mixer output providing an upconverted reference signal to a fifth plurality of directional couplers, each directional coupler connected to a corresponding one of the second plurality of input lines.

Multichannel receiver system and method for multichannel receiver monitoring

A frequency multiplier circuit, comprising a first stage including a first differential pair of amplifier elements having respective current conduction paths connected in parallel between first and second nodes and respective control terminals connected to receive input signals of opposite polarity at an input frequency in the radio frequency range, the first and second nodes being connected to respective bias voltage supply terminals through first and second impedances respectively so that current flowing differentially in the current conduction paths of the first differential pair of amplifier elements produces a voltage difference across the first and second nodes at a frequency which contains a harmonic of the input frequency, and a second stage including a second differential pair of amplifier elements coupled at the harmonic of the input frequency with the first and second nodes to amplify differentially the voltage difference and produce an output signal at the harmonic of the input frequency. Radio frequency connections apply the voltage difference across the first and second nodes at the frequency of the harmonic to the second differential pair of amplifier elements and block direct current, and separate direct current connections connect respectively the first differential pair of amplifier elements and the second differential pair of amplifier elements across the bias voltage supply terminals.

Frequency multiplier circuit

An integrated circuit has an input terminal, a first circuit portion having a first coupler coupled to the input terminal and a first mixer coupled to the first coupler. A first antenna terminal is coupled to the first coupler. A second circuit portion has a second coupler coupled to the input terminal and a second mixer coupled to the second coupler, and a second antenna terminal is coupled to the second coupler.
