A monitoring system for an electrical transmission and/or distribution network is disclosed. The system comprises a short-range wireless transceiver arranged at a predetermined position relative to an equipment device and configured to receive a signal from a portable device, and a controller configured to determine a location of the portable device based at least partially on the received signal. The controller is further configured to verify if the determined location is within a predetermined alert zone at least partly surrounding the equipment device, and to generate an alert signal in case the determined location is verified to be within the alert zone.

A method for positioning a virtual object in an image of a scene including a real object is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a signal from a short-range wireless transmitter arranged at a predetermined position relative to the real object and determining a location and orientation of the portable device relative to the short-range wireless transmitter based on the received signal. The image of the scene is displayed with the virtual object, wherein the position of the virtual object in the image is based on the determined location and orientation of the portable device relative to the short-range wireless transmitter and on the predetermined position of the short-range wireless transmitter relative to the real object. An intelligent fuse provides the operational status of the power network upon which the fuse is installed to a mobile device of a remote user. A fuse electronic circuit embedded in the fuse holder of the fuse captures the characteristic values of the power network and transmits the data to the mobile device. The mobile device has an application installed thereon to calculate the distance to fault location from the recording fuse using the fuse electronic circuit-captured data.
