An electronic device may include wireless circuitry having one or more radios and one or more antennas. A first radio may be configured to establish a communication link with an external device, a second radio may be configured to establish a communication link with network equipment. One or more processors in the electronic device may receive information indicative of a duration and termination of the communication link with the external device to operate the second radio in one or more operational modes. If desired, one of the operational modes may include a low-power idle mode during which the second radio performs discontinuous reception while pausing network paging monitoring.

The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods for connections aggregation among related devices for edge computing. Such techniques may include a grouping of related devices as an edge group, and assignment of a proxy device for distribution of edge server discovery information among the edge group.

In some embodiments, an apparatus includes first circuitry configured to perform a computation that uses a matrix as an input and second circuitry configured to perform the computation, where the second circuitry includes a smaller amount of processing resources than the first circuitry. The second circuitry may begin performing the computation on at least a portion of a set of input data. One or more storage elements may store context information for the second circuitry, where the context information includes outputs from the computation performed on the at least a portion of the set of input data. Based on the at least a portion of the set of input data, the apparatus may activate the first circuitry to complete the computation, where the completion uses the outputs of the computation performed by the second circuitry, included in the context information, as an intermediate result.

Energy-efficient processing

An electronic device may include a first set of antennas, a second set of antennas, and a slip ring disposed between the first set of antennas and the second set of antennas. The slip ring may include a waveguide that provides a pathway for signals transmitted between the first set of and the second set of antennas. A diameter and a length of the waveguide may enable efficient transmission of the signals between the sets of antennas by reducing signal attenuation. Additionally, gaps between the sets of antennas and the slip ring may be sized to reduce radiation emitted from the electronic device. The gaps between the sets of antennas and the slip ring may enable wireless data transfer between the sets of antennas.

A user equipment (UE) device may communicate according to a new device category satisfying specified QoS (quality of service) requirements while also satisfying specified link budget requirements, and/or additional optimization requirements. The UE device may communicate with a cellular base station according to a first mode of operation associated with the new device category, and may switch to communicating with the cellular base station according to a second mode of operation associated with a second (pre-existing) device category in response to the link budget requirements exceeding a specified value and the quality of service requirements not being sensitive. The UE device may also switch to communicating with the cellular base station according to a third mode of operation associated with a third (pre-existing) device type in response to the link budget requirement not exceeding the specified value, or the QoS requirements being sensitive and a downlink throughput requirement exceeding a specified throughput value.

Device category in 3GPP communications

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reducing power consumption of an electronic device scanning for wireless communication signals while maintaining or even improving an efficiency of the scanning operations. To do so, the electronic device may include more than one scan core, such as a main core and a receiving core. The receiving core may have limited functionality compared to the main core. For example, the receiving core may only receive wireless signals (including scanning for wireless signals). That is, the receiving core may not support certain operations that consume relative high power that are supported by the main core, such as transmission of signals. In this way, operation of the receiving core, either in place of or in addition to the main core, may reduce power consumption of the electronic device by avoiding high power consuming operations, such as data transmission, while scanning for various signals.

Embodiments relate to an integrated circuit of an electronic device that coordinates activities with another integrated circuit of the electronic device. The integrated circuit includes an interface circuit and a processor circuit. The interface circuit communicates over a multi-drop bus connected to multiple electronic components. The processor circuit receives an authorization request from the integrated circuit via the interface circuit and the multi-drop bus. The received authorization request relates to authorization to perform an activity on the other integrated circuit. In response to receiving the authorization request, the processor circuit determines whether the other integrated circuit is authorized to execute the activity. In response to determining that the other integrated circuit is authorized to execute the activity, the processor circuit sends, to the other integrated circuit over a configurable direct connection, an authorization signal authorizing the other integrated circuit to execute the activity.

System for link management between multiple communication chips

A system may include a client device running multiple client-side applications and server equipment running multiple server-side applications. One or more traffic aggregators may be provided between the client-side applications and the server-side applications. Each traffic aggregator may aggregate application traffic from the multiple applications to form one or more classes of aggregated data. Interfaces may be provided between the traffic aggregators and the applications to customize application traffic. Traffic aggregators in the system may be dynamically updated.

Embodiments relate to coordinating the operations of subsystems in a communication system of an electronic device where a coexistence hub device monitors the state information transmitted as coexistence messages over one or more multi-drop buses, processes the monitored coexistence messages and sends out control messages as coexistence messages to other systems on chips (SOCs). The coexistence hub device can also update the operations of the communication system. The coexistence hub device may receive an operation policy from a central processor and may execute the operation policy without further coordination of the central processor. The coexistence hub device broadcasts the control messages as coexistence messages according to the executed operation policy.

In some embodiments, a data-secure sensor system includes one or more processors configured to receive sensor data (e.g., image data, audio data, etc.) and generate descriptive data based on the sensor data that corresponds to a physical area that corresponds to information about identified objects or activity in physical area, an input/output (I/O) port, and an I/O choke communicatively coupled between the one or more processors and the I/O port, the I/O choke configured to limit a communication bandwidth of the I/O port to a maximum data rate. The one or more processors can be configured to prevent the sensor data from being accessible via any external port of the data-secure camera system, including the I/O port, and allow the descriptive data to be accessible via the I/O port.

In some embodiments, an apparatus includes first and second signal processing circuitry configured to perform signal processing operations and second signal processing circuitry configured to perform signal processing operations, wherein the second signal processing circuitry includes a smaller amount of processing resources than the first signal processing circuitry. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes one or more storage elements configured to store context information for the second signal processing circuitry and the one or more storage elements are accessible to the first signal processing circuitry. The apparatus may be configured to select one of the first and second signal processing circuitry based on the complexity of input problems, the amount of transmission resources assigned to the apparatus, etc. In some embodiments, intermediate results of from the second signal processing circuitry are used as inputs to an operation performed by the first signal processing circuitry.
