A vehicle component integrates an environment detection sensor into a vehicle. The vehicle component is in the form of a plastic component and has a main body with a recess for receiving the environment detection sensor. Towards a visible side of the vehicle component, the recess is delimited by a cover portion which has a signal passage surface or a signal passage opening.

A decorative element for a vehicle includes a partially transparent element having light-permeable portions and light-impermeable portions, and a light-guiding element which is configured to couple out, at least in some portions in the direction of the partially transparent element, light which has been coupled in. The partially transparent element and the light-guiding element are permeable for radar beams. A molding material layer is arranged between the partially transparent element and the light-guiding element, and is permeable for the light coupled out from the light-guiding element and for the radar beams. The molding material layer connects the partially transparent element to the light-guiding element.

A vehicle shell assembly, having a plate-like plastic body having an outside and an inside. A lighting unit is provided which is disposed on the inside and is configured to be switched between an active state and a passive state; the inside of the plastic body is provided with an opaque light-impermeable coating which has at least one gap; and the plastic body may have of a translucent material so that the gap is covered by the plastic body to the outside when the lighting unit is in the passive state and defines a light pattern which is visible from the outside when the lighting unit is in the active state.
