The solid hair wax product for treating or setting up a human hair-do or hair style contains at least one silicone-free wax, at least one hydrophobic oil that is liquid at 25&#xb0; C. and at least one silicone wax with a melting point in a range of from 20 to 45&#xb0; C. Preferably the silicone-free wax is a hydrocarbon wax, the hydrophobic oil is a silicone oil and the silicone wax is an alkylmethyl-dimethyl-siloxane.

The wax product for treating or setting up a hairstyle or hairdo includes a composition containing at least one wax or wax-like substance, at least one non-volatile liquid hydrophobic oil and at least one volatile or easily volatilized hydrophobic substance that is a liquid or gas at room temperature. Because of the presence of the volatile substance in the composition a soft wax easily worked in the hair is obtained when the composition is applied to the hair. This soft wax hardens on the hair when the volatile ingredients evaporate. When the composition includes a propellant gas a wax with a larger surface area (wax snow) is produced, which is likewise easily worked into the hair and very effectively fixes or sets the hair.

Hair wax products containing waxes, non-volatile oils and volatile hydrophobic materials

The hair styling stick contains from 30 to 55 percent by weight of one or more polyethylene glycols with a molecular weight of from 2500 to 5000 g/mol; and from 40 to 70 percent by weight of at least one other polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of from 570 to 800 g/mol together with cosmetic ingredients. In preferred embodiments the hair styling stick contains from 30 to 55 percent by weight of one or more polyethylene glycols with a molecular weight of from 2500 to 5000 g/mol; from 15 to 35 percent by weight of one or more polyethylene glycols with a molecular weight of from 850 to 1600 g/mol, from 15 to 35 percent by weight of one or more liquid polyethylene glycols with a molecular weight of from 570 to 800 g/mol and additional cosmetic ingredients, as needed. The additional cosmetic ingredients can include an aqueous or organic solvent, emulsifier, perfume or fragrance, dye, preservative and/or pearlescence-imparting agent.

The wax composition for styling human hair provides hold, strength and rigidity, includes at least one wax and/or waxy material, and has a density of less than or equal to 0.9 g/ml, after being foamed in a fluid or softened state with a gas, preferably air or a non-reactive gas, such as nitrogen, so that it includes a bubble and/or pore structure. In the method for styling human hair this wax composition is applied to the hair and the hair is shaped with the wax composition applied to it.

Hair wax product with reduced density

A hair wax product is made by a process, in which a solid wax composition is heated to melt or soften it and then foamed with a gas in a mixer that applies shear energy to it. The gas is preferably air or a non-reactive gas, such as nitrogen. The gas is introduced to the liquified or softened solid wax composition in a sufficient amount so that the density of the resulting hair wax product is less than or equal to 0.9 g/ml, preferably 0.6 to 0.8 g/ml. The hair wax product contains bubbles and/or pores having a size of from 0.0001 to 5 mm and has melting and softening properties such that rubbing it by hand is sufficient to remove a waxy portion from it and work the waxy portion into hair.

The pigment-containing foamable gel for temporarily coloring the hair contains from 35 to 98 percent by weight water; one or more gel-forming thickener that imparts a yield point to the composition; at least one pigment; at least one film-forming, hair-fixing polymer; at least one foam-producing surfactant and at least one propellant, in combination with a suitable aerosol package and a foam-forming device for foaming the gel. The concentration of the thickener or thickeners in the gel is selected so that, on the one hand, the viscosity of the gel is sufficiently reduced so that foaming of the gel is possible and, on the other hand, the yield point is at least large enough so that settling of the pigment is prevented. The easily foamable composition has a hair-fixing effect and temporarily colors the hair, providing a high color brilliance and lustrous appearance. The composition is washable from the hair at will and the color of the hair provided by it has good fastness to rubbing.

The hair treatment composition includes (A) at least one polydimethylsiloxane with hydroxy end groups, advantageously .alpha.-hydroxy-.omega.-hydroxy-poly[oxy(dimethylsilylene)]; (B) at least one volatile, linear or cyclic polydimethylsiloxane, advantageously octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, and (C) at least one isoparaffin, advantageously an isomeric mixture of isododecanes. Also the composition is advantageously free of water or contains no more than 5 % water and is free of cross-linking agents. The composition forms a smooth protective film on hair which is treated with it, with brilliant luster, without loading the hair.

The hair treatment composition is based on a polymer combination including (A) 0.01 to 40 percent by weight of a salt formed from a chitosan having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 g/mol and 2-pyrrolidon-5-carboxylic acid, and (B) 0.01 to 50 percent by weight of at least one synthetic, film-forming anionic or nonionic hair fixing polymer, or natural film-forming hair fixing polymer. This hair treatment composition provides an improved action in regard to combability, care sensitivity, load on the hair, brushability, hair feel, hair fixing action and residues left on the hair.
