A peelable, biaxially oriented, transparent multilayer polyolefin film having at least three layers is described. The peelable, biaxially oriented, transparent multilayer polyolefin film, comprises: (a) a transparent polyolefin base layer; (b) at least one peelable outer layer comprising one of, (i) a polymer selected from at least one of LLDPE, LDPE, MDPE, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer and HDPE, and (ii) a combination of at least one propylene co- or terpolymer and at least one ethylenic polymer; and (c) at least one intermediate layer comprising a propylene co- or terpolymer. The intermediate layer (c) of the multilayer film is interposed between the base layer (a) and the peelable layer (b). Also described is a method of preparing the multilayer film, which results in the base layer and intermediate layer(s) being biaxially stretched, and the peelable layer(s) being monoaxially stretched. The multilayer films of the present invention have utility as packaging films.

Polyolefin film with peelable outer layer

Described is a stretched multilayered film comprising: (a) a polyolefin layer; and (b) at least one peelable outer layer. Each peelable outer layer (b) independently is 0.5 to 5 &mgr;m thick, comprises a copolymer of vinyl acetate and ethylene, and has a vinyl acetate proportion of from 3 to 30 wt. %, based on the weight of the peelable outer layer (b). Also described is a method of using the multilayered film as a packaging film.

Peelable, sealable polyolefinic multilayered film and its use as a packaging film

A multi-layered film that may be heat laminated to a substrate is described. The multi-layered film comprises a base layer comprising polypropylene, a first external layer comprising polypropylene, and a second external layer. The base layer is interposed between the first and second external layers. The second external layer comprises a mixture of first (i) and second (ii) ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers, each having different vinyl acetate residue contents. The content of vinyl acetate residues in the first EVA copolymer (i) is 10 to 30 percent by weight, based on the weight of the first copolymer (i), the content of vinyl acetate residues in the second EVA copolymer (ii) is 1 to 10 percent by weight, based on the weight of the second copolymer (ii). The multi-layered film is heat laminated and oriented at least monoaxially.

Heat-laminable multi-layer film

The present invention relates to a heat sealable, unoriented multi-layer film consisting of a sequence of layers (I) comprising one or more plies on the outer side of the film, a sequence of layers (II) also comprising at least one ply, denoted the heat sealable layer, on the other outer side of the film, optionally together with a coupling sequence of layers (III), also of one or more plies, between the sequences of layers (I) and (II), wherein the multi-layer film is characterized in that the sequence of layers (I) contains at least one layer (i) of a linear alternating copolymer (1) of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated olefin, optionally together with one or more layers (ii) containing polyamide, characterised in that the ratio between the thicknesses of the sequence of layers (I) and the total multi-layer film is no greater than 0.6 and no less than 0.15, that the total thickness of the multi-layer film is no less than 50 and no more than 300 &mgr;m, and that at least one melting point, determined using the DSC method to ASTM 3418, of one of the polymeric components present in the sequence of layers (II) is at least 50&deg; C. lower than at least one melting point, determined using the DSC method to ASTM 3418, of one of the polymers present in the sequence of layers (I).
