Hub for information media, the hub comprising an outer winding area having a width, a central bore and a center point located on the hub, driving grooves on a circumference of the hub, an outer ring, an inner ring, and a connector for connecting the outer ring with the inner ring. The width of the outer winding area of the hub is at least equal to a width of the information medium. The connector comprises diagonal ribs running diagonally at a slant in an axial direction and sloping alternately in accordance with two axial directions of the hub and in neighboring segments, wherein respective pairs of neighboring diagonal ribs are sloped in different directions and have a further rib between them.

Hub for information media in strip or tape form

A hub, on which compressing of the inner central bore is to be minimized during the winding up of an information medium in tape form under high winding pressure. According to one embodiment, this is achieved by an outer hub ring having a strong profile being provided alongside the outer winding area and by there also being elastically deformable intermediate elements between outer hub ring and inner hub ring. Such elements provide for a compression ratio of the compressed diameters of a the inner to the outer ring of less than 1:4. In the case of a further embodiment, variously shaped openings or notches, which are distributed evenly over the entire circumference, are provided on both sides of the hub between its outer circumference and inner circumference. In a still further embodiment the elastically deformable intermediate elements consist of webs running in radial and circumferential directions and residual portions between openings provided between the periphery of the outer ring and said webs.

Hub for information media

A hub, on which compressing of the inner central bore is to be minimized during the winding up of an information medium in tape form under high winding pressure. According to one embodiment, this is achieved by an outer hub ring having a strong profile being provided alongside the outer windung area and by there also being elastically deformable intermediate elements between outer hub ring and inner hub ring. Such elements provide for a compression ratio of the compressed diameters of a the inner to the outer ring of less than 1:4. In the case of a further embodiment, variously shaped openings or notches, which are distributed evenly over the entire circumference, are provided on both sides of the hub between its outer circumference and inner circumference. A surface testing device, operating by reflection, for linearly moving, tape-like materials, for example paper or polymer films, is suitable for automatic online registration of linear irregularities transverse to the direction of movement. The testing device includes a suitable test distance, at least two optical inspection units and at least one electronic circuit arrangement for detecting both the individual signals of the inspection units and the coincidence signals. In addition, a magnetic information medium wound in the form of a roll on a hub is tested by the surface testing device and carries a machine-readable and/or visually readable quality identification.

Winding hub for information carriers in tape form

A cylindrical hub for winding web-like or tape-like magnetic recording media of relatively great length. With a winding tension of not more than 2N/cm width of the wound magnetic recording medium, the skew measured over the total length of the wound recording medium should be not more than 5 .mu.s. The length of the wound recording medium is at least 5,000 m; the hub may consist, for example, of aluminum, steel or hard pertinax. It was found that the conditions are fulfilled by a hub in which the compression is less than 0.3% of the hub diameter.

Hub for winding magnetic tapes

This tape winding arm is part of a winding device for film strips, tape or other similar medium, where the medium is wound up onto rolls. The medium passes over the end of the winding arm along guiding and deflecting elements on a cushion of compressed air, which is supplied through a hollow in the arm, and past a rotating pinch roller. This pinch roller is also part of the winding arm, and the winding arm is made of lightweight metal and pivots, so that its pinch roller rests on the tape roll, helping to ensure even winding through constant contact with the roll. The winding arm consists of two parts screwed together at the pivot point; this allows easy disassembly and removal from the pivot spindle.

The invention relates to parallelepipedal packaging containers for recording media in tape form which are wound up onto hubs provided with internal bores and are stacked one on top of the other, comprising a bottom part, a top part and side parts, which are joined to one another by means of molded-on film hinges, and it being possible for a hub support to be pushed through the internal bores of the hubs.

A winding device for magnetic tapes, in which the incoming tape (1) is guided over tape-deflecting and guiding elements (3, 4) to the tape roll (7) for winding up, a rubber roller (5) fastened to a low-mass swing arm (6) being pressed against the tape at the point at which the tape tangentially reaches the tape roll, and both the swing arm and the tape-deflecting elements being seated on a pivotal guide arm, which is guided by a pneumatic guidance according to the structure of the tape roll. In this way, a satisfactory winding profile is achieved in the case of magnetic tapes to be wound up, even at high winding speeds.

A tensioning device for hubs, comprising a winding shaft having rotatably and drivably mounted on it individual winding elements as hub holder for hubs with inner cylindrical bores, the tensioning device including measures for locking the hubs in the axial direction on each individual winding element, wherein the hub (1) includes along its inner circumference (3), alongside the inner bore (5) and uniformly distributed over the circumference, a multiplicity of resilient elements (2), which have the form of a bent-off arm which extends in the radial direction from the inner circumference (3) of the hub (1) and is bent off in the circumferential direction, the end (4) of each resilient arm being at a distance from the bending point of the next-following arm.

A winding shaft is described, having self-tensioning individual winding elements (6) for winding mandrels mounted on it in such a way that they can be driven, which include in each case in an annular groove (14) of each individual winding element a compliant tensioning means, the outside diameter of which is greater than the inside diameter of the winding mandrels. The winding means comprises a plurality of cylindrical-annular segments (2) arranged on the circumference of the individual winding element in the annular groove, the end faces (13) of which segments are beveled and are mounted radially displaceably on the inner face of the intermediate pieces (3), there being seated between the inside of the segments and the bottom of the annular groove a spring element, comprising either a leaf spring or a plurality of helical springs with ball thrust pieces.

Winding mandrel tensioning means

Abstract of the Disclosure: A flangeless stackable hub, on which compressing of the inner central bore is to be prevented during the winding up of an information medium in tape form under high winding pressure. According to one embodiment, this is achieved by an outer hub ring having a double-T profile being provided alongside the outer winding area and by there also being elastically deformable annular intermediate elements between outer hub ring and inner hub ring. In the case of another embodiment, variously shaped openings or notches, which are distributed evenly over the entire circumference, are provided on both sides of the hub between outer circumference and inner circumference. In addition, the hub contains alongside its inner circumference on both sides axial deformations, in order to avoid a shifting or twisting when hubs are stacked one on top of the other (FIG. 2, FIG. 4).

The invention relates to a demagnetizing device for magnetic recording media, so-called pancakes, wound up in the form of a tape, which device consists of a cylindrical coil (1), the field distribution (3) of which extends essentially parallel to the winding plane (2) of the recording medium (4), while the pancakes (4) can be inserted into the coil (1) in the axial direction by a lifting device (5). The compact form enables an entire pancake stack to be demagnetized at the same time (FIGURE).

A cutting device for layered or unlayered foil lengths, having good cut quality and an extended period of use before re-grinding of the cutter is required, consists of cylindrically shaped keyway cutter bars with distance rings lying between them, which are mounted on a blade shaft, and of roller blades of right-angles cross-section, which are equally mounted on a blade shaft and wherein each roller blade is pressed by a spring washer against the corresponding keyway cutter bar. The advantage according to the invention consists in that first each roller blade is supported on one of the cutting blades of the keyway cutter bar and that after these cutting shoulders wear off the whole roller blade shaft is turned around and in each case the other cutting shoulder is used for cutting. After these cutting shoulders too have worn off the cutting device is made usuable for further cutting operation by grinding off the cylindrical outer surface of the keyway cutter bars (FIG. 2).

A device is described for rapid reel change when winding film strips produced by guiding a continuous film web through a cutting device, wherein the strips are sucked by a sucking comb (3) provided with segments (5), a pivotable roller (6) is pressed against this sucking comb (3) which sucks the film strips, whereupon the sucking comb is pivoted onto a winding shaft (13) fitted with winding cores (14), which winding shaft (13) takes up the ends of the cut film strips, whereupon the complete tape winding (23) is prepared. The winding device (10) is then pivoted by 180.degree. and a new winding shaft (13') already fully fitted is prepared for renewed winding.
