A gaiter or bellows for a power-assisted steering system for motor vehicles is connected on one hand to a steering gear housing and on the other hand to an adjacent track rod. The gaiter or bellows is characterized in that it is manufactured at least partially from a gas permeable, liquid repellent material. In a common configuration the power assisted steering system has a steering rod disposed in a general longitudinally extending manner in a steering gear housing as well as having track rods associated with the steering rack. The gaiter or bellows is connected in such an application at one end to the steering gear housing and at the other end to an adjacent track rod.

Vent for a power-assisted steering system

A steering valve arrangement of a hydraulic steering system has a rotary valve with a first and a second control part that are rotationally movable relative to one another. By rotational adjustment of the control parts a hydraulic servomotor is controlled which is connected drivewise with the steered wheels of a vehicle. An electric motor is mounted in a fixed location for actuating the rotary valve relative to the first control part and is connected drivewise with the second control part. The driving connection from the electric motor to the second control part is provided indirectly by a step-down transmission, including a small gear fixed to the motor drive shaft and a large gear connection with the second control part. The steering valve and the motor are disposed side by side and parallel to one another in a compact design.

A servovalve, in particular for hydraulic power-assisted steering systems of motor vehicles, is in the form of a rotary spool valve with a rotary spool and a control bush, which coaxially surrounds the rotary spool and can be rotated against spring force relative to the rotary spool. A bearing, by which the control bush and the rotary spool are secured axially relative to one another, is integrated into the rotary spool valve.
