A fuel-supply unit for a motor vehicle has a fuel container () that has several chambers (). The unit has a transfer pump () that is located inside the fuel container () for exclusively supplying ejector pumps (), which are positioned in the chambers (), with fuel as the pumping fluid. A primary fuel pump () that is located outside the fuel container () supplies an internal combustion engine () of the motor vehicle with fuel. The transfer pump () is operated discontinuously to prevent unnecessary power consumption.

Fuel supply unit for a motor vehicle

A fuel delivery unit for insertion into a fuel tank of a motor vehicle has a swirl pot, a flange for closing an opening in the fuel tank, and a support element arranged between the flange and the swirl pot that prestresses the swirl pot towards a bottom of the fuel tank. A filling level sensor is arranged on the swirl pot. The swirl pot has at least one receptacle. The receptacle extends to a bottom of the swirl pot and completely surrounds the periphery of the support element and has an opening in the bottom region through which fuel from the fuel tank can enter the receptacle. The filling level sensor comprises a transmission and receiving unit for ultrasonic waves arranged in the fuel delivery unit such that the ultrasonic waves run in the receptacle and the support element.

A device () for supplying electric current to the fuel pump () of a motor vehicle internal combustion engine () comprises a DC/DC converter () which increases voltage to a predetermined value in the event of a voltage drop of a direct current source (). This ensures an adequate voltage supply of the fuel pump () even at low voltages of the direct voltage source. When the voltage () of the direct voltage source () is sufficient, the DC/DC converter () is bridged, so that the fuel pump () is directly supplied with fuel from the direct voltage source (). The DC/DC converter is also bridged when the device is faulty.

Disclosed is a method and device for testing the measuring value of at least one filling level sensor arranged in a fuel tank. A plurality of measurements are taken by the filling level sensors and are each compared with a physical variable to determine whether the measurements are plausible. If, based on the comparison, the measurements from the sensors are not plausible, a warning signal is fed to a warning device and a warning information item is triggered by the warning device.

A fuel delivery unit for delivering fuel from a fuel container to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, comprising a plurality of components, with the components being a flange for closing an opening in the fuel container, a splash pot which is connected to the flange by means of supporting elements a fuel pump which is arranged in said splash pot, a fuel filter, a pressure regulator, a filling level sensor and a pump pre-filter, and means for connecting each individual component to a ground potential of the motor vehicle. The invention relates to a filling level sensor for a fuel tank with a float which is fastened to a lever arm and at least one contact which is arranged on the lever arm and is in connection with a slider track formed as a thick-film resistor. The thick-film resistor consists of at least two precious metals, one precious metal being silver and present in a smaller proportion than the other precious metal.

In a feed device () for a motor vehicle, a ventilation element () is arranged in a feed line () which is guided into an intermediate tank () arranged upstream of a surge chamber (). The ventilation element () has an opening () which is closed when the fuel is flowing and is released if the flow fails. In a fuel container () for a motor vehicle having a plurality of chambers (), a suction jet pump () with a filling level sensor () is arranged in each of the individual chambers (). A valve () is arranged in a propellant line () leading to the suction jet pump (). When a chamber () is virtually empty, the supply of fuel to the suction jet pump () is disabled and an unnecessary movement of the fuel is thus avoided.

Fuel container for a motor vehicle

A fuel tank for a motor vehicle comprising a wall composed of two shells arranged one above the other. The outer shell of the wall preferably has an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice. A filter element is arranged in front of the outlet orifice. Scavenging air from the inlet orifice thereby passes first into a gap between the shells and subsequently to a filter element. As a result, fuel vapors can no longer diffuse through the wall and pollute the environment.

Fuel tank

A fuel tank having an inlet and an outlet is connected to a separate pressure vessel by means of a pump. Fuel vapors are pumped out of the tank and into the pressure vessel while the tank is being filled via the inlet, so that fuel vapors cannot escape during filling. After filling, the inlet is closed and the pressure in the tank is increased to about 4 bar by means of a pressure regulator in a line connecting the pressure vessel to the fuel tank. The pump is then switched off and the fuel can be delivered to the engine via the outlet under the increased fuel pressure in the tank, the pressure being reduced to fuel system pressure by a pressure regulator in the outlet line.

Arrangement for storing fuel and method for operating a fuel tank

Fuel tank for a motor vehicle

In a method of producing a fuel tank from plastic, a heating element is located between two shell parts to be welded to one another. When the shell parts are pressed together, the heating element melts into the plastic and produces a weld that provides a fuel-resistant seal. The fuel tank subsequently has a particularly exact shape.
