A composition containing titanium and iron compounds, in particular decomposition residue that accumulates as a production residue after the sulphate process during the production of titanium dioxide, is used as an adsorbing agent for inorganic and organic compounds, for example compounds containing phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, sulphur, selenium, tellurium, the cyano group or heavy metal. Toxic substances and pollutants may be removed from a fluid using the adsorbing agent.

A process is described for the production of a catalyst preparation, in which the catalyst containing at least one inorganic compound which is solid under standard conditions is comminuted by means of a dispersion unit into particles having a maximum average particle size dof 2 &#x3bc;m, preferably a maximum of 1 &#x3bc;m, implemented in accordance with DIN 66141 and DIN 66144, and is distributed at a concentration of from 1 to 50 wt. % (relative to the finished catalyst preparation) in a liquid.

The invention relates to methods for producing cesium hydroxide solutions during which: cesium-containing ore is disintegrated with sulfuric acid while forming a cesium aluminum sulfate hydrate, which is poorly soluble at low temperatures; the formed cesium alum is separated away in the form of a solution from the solid ore residues; the aluminum is precipitated out of the cesium alum solution while forming a cesium sulfate solution; the formed cesium sulfate solution is reacted with barium hydroxide or stontium hydroxide while forming a cesium hydroxide solution, and; the formed cesium hydroxide solution is concentrated and purified.

Catalyst system consisting of a carrier and of a co-catalyst

The bodies are prepared either by pelleting of a pasty mixture of titanium dioxide powder and titanium dioxide sol and/or 1-20% nitric acid, followed by dehydration and calcination at a temperature of between 400 and 1000&deg; C. for between 0.5 and 3.5 hours; or by preparing pellets from the titanium dioxide powder and added water, annealing of the pellets at between 300 and 500&deg; C., saturation of same with titanium dioxide sol or 1-20% nitric acid in a vacuum, followed by drying and finally annealing at a temperature of between 400 and 1000&deg; C. for between 0.5 and 3 hours.
