A process manufactures an exhaust gas treatment device including a tubular circumferential wall () elongated along a longitudinal axis (L) with two axial end areas, an exhaust gas treatment unit () arranged in the circumferential wall and a closing element () connected to the circumferential wall at the two axial end areas. The exhaust gas treatment unit is held at the circumferential wall by a supporting material layer () enclosing the exhaust gas treatment unit and supporting same in relation to the circumferential wall. The process includes arranging a first of the two closing elements at one of the axial end areas of the circumferential wall, pushing the exhaust gas treatment unit enclosed by the supporting material layer into the circumferential wall from the other axial end area (), and arranging a second of the closing elements at the other axial end area of the circumferential wall.

Process for manufacturing an exhaust gas treatment device

An exhaust gas flap, especially for the exhaust gas stream of an internal combustion engine, includes a flap tube () and a flap diaphragm () carried in an interior of the flap tube on a pivot shaft () rotatable about a pivot axis. A flap wing () is mounted on the pivot shaft () and a wing stop () is associated with the flap wing () on an inner circumferential area of the flap tube. The flap wing () has a mounting area () with uncurved mounting surfaces (). Opposing mounting surfaces () or/and a mounting recess () at the pivot shaft () provide an opposing mounting area that at least partially receives the flap wing mounting area () of the flap wing (), the opposing mounting area being provided on the outer circumferential area of the pivot shaft ().

Exhaust gas flap

A method for producing an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device inserts a monolith in a housing, assembled from a circumferentially enclosed jacket and two end funnels. The monolith is axially inserted into the jacket with a circumferentially enclosing support mat. The funnels are connected to the jacket via an axial connecting section shaped complementary to the cross-section of the jacket, such that each connecting section and an axial end section of the support mat axially overlap. The jacket, including the connecting sections of the funnels are reduced from a starting cross-section to an end cross-section. This produces a predetermined radial preload in the support mat in a support area extending from the one connecting section to the other connecting section to retain the monolith in the jacket.

Method for producing an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device

A housing () for an exhaust gas-treating device () of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a jacket () closed in the circumferential direction for mounting at least one exhaust gas-treating element (. The jacket passes over at at least one axial end into a ring body (). The ring body () is closed in the circumferential direction. The housing () can be connected to another component of the exhaust system. A simplified manufacture is achieved if the jacket () and the at least one ring body () are manufactured from a single sheet steel billet () by rolling the sheet steel billet () in the circumferential direction and by connecting abutting edges () of the sheet steel billet (). The jacket () and the at least one ring body () differ from one another by different materials and/or different wall thicknesses ().
