A device for producing an output light emission having a light source for emitting light and a first polarizing beam splitter element positioned so at least one portion of the emitted light is incident thereupon, wherein a first reflected light beam of a first polarization state and a second transmitted light beam of a second polarization state are produced. The device also includes a first liquid crystal element having at least two states which are actuated using a control unit. The first liquid crystal element at least partially reflects the first light beam, wherein the polarization state of the first light beam is altered based on the state of the first liquid crystal element. The first polarizing beam splitter element is positioned so the first light beam is incident thereupon after reflection at the first liquid crystal element.

Device and method for producing an output light emission, and headlight

A head-up display includes at least three light sources, each one arranged to emit light with a basic color different from the basic color of the other light sources, a digital micro mirror device including an array of micro mirrors, wherein the light of the light sources is directed onto the digital micro mirror device, at least one combiner for displaying an image, and at least one control unit for multiplexing the light sources so as to sequentially emit light thus creating a field sequential color system and for controlling the digital micro mirror device so as to selectively rotate the micro mirrors between an on state, where the light from the light sources is reflected into an optical path towards the combiner, and an off state, where the light is reflected away from that optical path. A method for operating the head-up display is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a display, in particular Head-Up-Display of a vehicle, comprising an image forming unit for generating an image, an illumination means for illuminating the image forming unit and a deflecting unit for providing a user with a virtual image of the image generated by the image forming unit, wherein the image forming unit comprises a reflective LCoS&#x2014;(Liquid Crystal on Silicon) display and the deflecting unit comprises a partially transmissive combiner.

A head-up display has a screen, a cover for the screen, and a gear mechanism for simultaneously pivoting the screen and the cover around a pivot axis between a first end position and a second end position and concurrently shifting the cover relatively to the screen in such a way that the cover uncovers the screen in the first end position and completely covers the screen in the second end position.

A straw holder for supporting a drinking straw in the mouth of a bottle is presented. The holder includes a straw support portion dimensioned for placement across the mouth of a bottle. The straw support portion includes an aperture designed to receive a straw therethrough and to vertically support the straw with respect to the support portion. The holder further includes a bottle retaining portion that includes at least one turn extending around the retaining portion. The at least one turn includes a first turn having an end attached to the straw support portion.

Head-up display

The invention relates to a display device, especially in a motor vehicle, comprising a display () which can be illuminated by a light source (), and a light guide () which is arranged between the light source () and the display (). Said light source () comprises a plurality of individual light sources (), the entire light-radiating surface of said light sources being larger than the surface of the display (). In order to increase the light efficiency, the light guide () comprises, on the light source side, individual light guiding sections () which are associated with the individual light sources (), said sections forming a common light guiding section () on the display side.

A head-up display for vehicles, in which information from a display device is projected onto a transparent projection area, the display device has two transparent screens between which a liquid crystal substance and electrodes are arranged, polarized light penetrating through the liquid crystal substance, the liquid crystal substance rotating the polarized light penetrating through the liquid crystal substance in a plane of polarization in a manner dependent on the driving of the electrodes with a voltage. The polarized light emerging form the liquid crystal substance is not sent through a polarizer, but rather is polarized by the reflection at the transparent projection area or at one or more other reflectors which is or are arranged in the beam path of the polarized light between the liquid crystal substance and the transparent projection area.

For this purpose, the lead ( ) has a 180&deg; bend ( ), so that a first leg ( ) rests against a rear ( ) of the disk pointer ( ) and a second leg ( ) rests against a rear component ( ). When the disk pointer ( ) is deflected, the lead ( ) is able to roll on the rear ( ). As it does so, only slight restoring forces are produced and, at the same time, the space requirement is low, it being possible in particular for the central area to be used for further components.
