An apparatus and a method is provided for handling printing plates which are provided in the form of a printing plate stack on at least one storage plane. If printing plates having a particularly large format are required to set images on them in an exposer, loading cassettes for a magazine of cassettes is at least problematic. Therefore, a tray is moved out of a storage device via an adjacent lifting device into the lower region of the storage device, and is fed there to a drawer which can be moved out of the storage device. If the tray is situated on the drawer, the latter can be moved by an operator in a second horizontal direction out of the handling apparatus, in particular out of the storage device. In this position, the tray can then be loaded in an ergonomically favorable manner.

Transfer apparatus for printing plate trays and method of handling the printing plates

In a balancing system and a method for balancing a drum of a printing plate exposer, at least one mass element is provided which can be moved substantially in the circumferential direction of the drum in order to reduce an imbalance of the drum. Previous devices and methods either needed the expertise and the knowledge of a user or external actuators which had to be driven by corresponding devices, for example computers, in order to compensate for an imbalance by moving the mass elements. The balancing system is simple and automatic balancing of the drum is achieved by a mass element being coupled to a positioning element and by its position being adjusted automatically on the basis of the circumferential extent of the printing form.

A method and a device adapt the number of stepping motor cycles K to a temperature-dependent length change of a feed spindle in an exposer for recording printing originals. The length change is measured via a reference rod, which is disposed parallel to the feed direction of the exposure head carrier. A reference distance is disposed on the reference rod. The exposure head carrier is located on a feed spindle, which is driven by a stepping motor. A number Kof cycles of the stepping motor per revolution of the exposure drum for a specific printing result is determined once. A corrected number Kof stepping motor cycles for achieving the same printed result is then determined as a function of the different temperature-dependent length changes of feed spindle and reference rod.

An apparatus for separating printing plates which are separated from one another in a stack, preferably individually by intermediate layers, has a lifting device for raising a printing plate or an intermediate layer from the stack. The apparatus further has a separating device for the intermediate layers, in particular as a constituent part of a loading device of a unit for setting images on printing plates. The separating device is configured as a rocker which can be pivoted onto the lifting device and can be pivoted away from the lifting device and contains suction elements and one drivable transport roller. An adhering intermediate layer is pulled off from the printing plate with the suction elements, and the intermediate layer is transported away with the transport roller.

Apparatus and method for separating printing plates

An apparatus for handling printing plates contains at least one image-setting device and a frame that at least partially encloses the image-setting device. The image-setting device is decoupled from the frame via decoupling feet that stand on the floor through cutouts in the frame. If the image-setting device is decoupled from the frame, it is problematic or at least time-consuming to align the image-setting device and the frame with respect to one another. Alignment is particularly necessary when the frame contains further processing stations and transport systems. Simpler and more rapid alignment can be achieved by at least one guiding alignment element assisting the alignment of the image-setting device and of the frame with respect to one another.

Alignment elements for an apparatus for handling printing plates

A device sets the focus of at least one exposure head on a recording material, in particular a printing plate, in an exposer for recording printing originals. An exposer has an exposure drum for holding the printing plates, and an exposure-head carrier, which contains a carrier plate for holding exposure heads, and a carrier base. The carrier plate and the carrier base are connected such that they can move by a hinge which is disposed on the front side of the exposure-head carrier, facing the exposure drum. The rear of the carrier plate is raised or lowered by a tilting drive, as a result of which the exposure heads are moved jointly and substantially radially toward the exposure drum or away from the exposure drum. The hinge is preferably formed from at least one spring plate.

An apparatus for producing a printing form which, with little expenditure, permits exact beam alignment and positioning. The apparatus for producing the printing form contains a holder for at least one printing form blank, and at least one imaging module, which can be moved relative to the printing form blank and which contains at least one radiation source which, in order to produce image elements that accept printing ink, is aimed at the surface of the printing form blank and whose beam direction can be adjusted. The imaging module being accommodated in a six-point mounting in three bearing locations, each bearing location containing a spherical element and an associated bearing element and in each case the spherical element rests on it and, in order to adjust the beam direction, at least one element of one bearing location being disposed adjustably.

Apparatus for producing a printing form

A method, an apparatus, and a loader for moving (e.g., transporting) a printing plate into an exposer for printing plates and, after exposure, out of the exposer and into a processor, for example, saves space in the region of the exposer when moving the printing plate. In the method, the movement of the printing plate into the exposer takes place, at least in a path segment of the movement run, at a first level and the movement of the printing plate out of the exposer takes place, at least in a path segment of the movement run, at a second level that differs from the first level. The path segments of the movement run at the two different levels are each located on the same side of the exposer.

Method for moving printing plates into and out of exposure device

A method of and an apparatus for handling an exposure surface to be exposed includes the steps of hanging the exposure surface in a transitional state during introduction into the exposure region of an exposure unit and/or during discharge from an exposure unit. The exposure surface is transferred from an approximately horizontal orientation in a feed region or loading region into a hanging orientation and/or is lowered for introduction into the exposure unit. The exposure surface to be exposed is, in particular, a printing plate. The exposure unit is, preferably, a printing plate exposer, and is, in particular, an inner-drum printing plate exposer.

An apparatus for viewing originals in a flatbed scanner includes a fixed copy holder and a movable scanning unit with a light source for illuminating the original to be scanned, an optoelectronic transducer, and a scanning lens for projecting a scanned line of the original onto the optoelectronic transducer. Fitted below the copy holder is a light source, and fastened on the scanning unit is a dispersion foil drawn under the copy holder by the scanning unit when the scanning unit is brought into a parking position and drawn away by the scanning unit when the scanning unit is moved over the copy holder during scanning. The dispersion foil is stretched tight by a suitable stretching apparatus when the scanning unit is in the parking position.

Apparatus for viewing originals

A device for affixing an original onto a scanning cylinder includes a housing for accommodating components of the device, the housing having a front, a rear and a lateral region, and being provided, in the front region, with an original table whereon an original is clampable, and in the lateral region, with two arms articulatedly connected therein and being slidable on guides for moving the table to the cylinder, the housing, in the rear region, being provided with a trough open at the top for accommodating the cylinder, and being constructed to accommodate, respectively, one of two cylinders of different diameter; and a roller for pressing the original onto the cylinder during a clamping process of the original, the roller extending parallel to the cylinder and being fixed to two curved swinging arms articulatedly connected to the rear region and matching the shape of the housing.

Original-affixing device

In an apparatus for point-by-point and line-by-line, opto-electronic scanning of masters chucked on a scanner drum, an illumination unit is provided for generating an illumination spot on the master. A scanner objective, a scanner element and a feed support is provided at which the illumination unit, the scanner objective and the scanner element are arranged. The illumination unit comprises a light conductor that is aligned in the direction of the rotational axis of the scanner drum and has a light exit face for generating a light spot and has optical elements for imaging the light spot onto the master as an illumination spot. At least a sub-section of the light conductor in the region of the light exit face can be inclined by small angles relative to the rotational axis with a Cardanic bearing for fine adjustment of optical beam paths, as a result whereof the illumination spot is displaced on the scanner drum. The slope of the light conductor that has been found to be optimum is then fixed.

Apparatus for scanning masters

Interchangeable scanning drums of drum scanners that are seated at one side for scanning opaque or transparency image originals must be capable of being reliably and quickly connected to the rotatory drive of the scanner unit. Interchangeable drum structures facilitate the attachment of the image originals and allow an economic assembly of scanning drums that, preparatory to the job, can be loaded with image originals simultaneously with the scanning process. According to the Prior Art 874, it was hitherto necessary to design cost-intensive, actively supported work fixtures in order to achieve an adequately stable connection and a dependable, dynamic operation. The present invention avoids this disadvantage with a cost-beneficial design that makes use of centrifugal forces produced by the scanner rotation for the coupling of drum and drive motor flange in combination with toggle lever mechanisms.
