A piston, e.g., for a control valve in a vehicle compressed air system, is housed in a cylinder in an axially displaceable manner along a longitudinal center axis separating a first cylinder chamber and a second cylinder chamber. The piston has a peripheral annular groove of approximately rectangular cross-sectional in which a sealing ring is inserted, the free end of which is disposed on the inner cover surface of the cylinder. The sealing ring defines, together with at least one groove wall, at least one pressure support chamber. The piston also comprises, in the region of the annular groove, at least one axial opening, which joins the at least one pressure support chamber to the associated first or second cylinder chamber. A pneumatic or hydraulic connection independent of any geometric deformations of the sealing ring is enabled between at least one cylinder chamber and the associated pressure support chamber.

Piston for a compressed air control valve

A brake system () for a commercial vehicle () with a trailer includes a trailer control valve (), a supply pressure line (), a control pressure line (), a valve arrangement for selectively connecting either the supply pressure line () or the control pressure line () to the trailer control valve (), and an electronic control unit () that is arranged to perform electronic brake control. The valve arrangement is embodied as a structural valve unit (), that can be switched by the electronic control unit () between the switching states connecting a trailer-side pressure line () to the control pressure line (), and connecting the trailer-side pressure line () to the supply pressure line (), and is arranged to subject the trailer-side pressure line () to a control pressure in a brake control situation depending on corresponding commands of the electronic control unit ().

Control unit

An electronic-pneumatic braking system for a vehicle, for example for a heavy goods vehicle or an articulated truck, includes a TCS/ESC modulator (), enabling control functions for a traction control system (TCS) and a vehicle stability control system (ESC). The TCS/ESC modulator () includes a pneumatic relay valve (), a solenoid valve () and a changeover valve device (). In order to achieve a compact size and cost savings during manufacture, only control pressure can be applied to the solenoid valve () and to the changeover valve device (), while only the pneumatic relay valve () has a large nominal size for conveying the supply pressure to at least one wheel brake and for venting the latter. As a result, the changeover valve device () can be structurally integrated in a TCS/ESC modulator () intended for carrying out the TCS/ESC functions.

Electronic-pneumatic braking system, for example for a heavy goods vehicle or articulated truck

A valve device for a pneumatically-operated vehicle brake system can adjust the pneumatic brake pressure that can be fed to a brake in a controlled manner. A first variant of the valve device is configured as a modulator for use in an electronically regulated embodiment of the brake system; and a second variant is configured for use in a pneumatically controlled embodiment of the brake system. However, both variants have pneumatic interfaces and mechanical fastening points that are configured substantially identically with respect to one another to facilitate conversion of the brake system from one such embodiment to another.

Valve device for a pneumatically operated brake system

A valve device for brake control of a different pressure medium-operated vehicle brake systems comprises a housing that has pressure medium ducts. A relay valve provides a pneumatic control pressure, which is fed to the relay valve via at least one of the pressure medium ducts at a higher flow rate. At least one insert is pneumatically connected to at least two of the pressure medium ducts, which can be pneumatically connected to each other by the insert. The two pressure medium ducts define a pressure medium path, the profile of which differs based on the housing that is in each case selected and/or switched based on the selected insert. The housing is selected from a set of housings having different pressure medium ducts, in particular bores, but which are otherwise essentially similar. The insert is selected from a set of different inserts.

Valve device adaptable for brake control of a variety of pressure medium-operated vehicle brake systems

Valve apparatus

A pneumatically-operated vehicle brake system has a first compressed air line in which compressed air at a controllable service brake pressure can be provided. Membrane parts of brake cylinders can be ventilated by the service brake pressure for a service brake function. A parking brake device includes a second compressed air line in which compressed air can be provided at a parking brake pressure electro-pneumatically. Brake cylinder spring brake parts can be ventilated by compressed air at the service brake pressure to provide a parking brake function. The parking brake device also has a ventilation inlet by which the second compressed air line can be ventilated to increase the parking brake pressure, and a first ventilation outlet by which the second compressed air line can be ventilated to reduce the parking brake pressure. The second compressed air line can be pneumatically connected to the first via the first ventilation outlet.

Brake system for a vehicle

An actuating device includes a vehicle operating brake and parking brake. A first braking effect is generated by the parking brake independently of a braking procedure for the operating brake. The actuating device comprises a first switched state, wherein the first braking effect of the parking brake cannot be provided, and a second switched state, wherein the first (full) braking effect of the parking brake is provided. The actuating device further comprises a manually actuatable operating element for actuating the parking brake that comprises travel positions. The actuating device is switched to the second switched state in a first travel position when the parking brake is released, and to the first switched state when the parking brake is applied. Also, the actuating device is switchable to a further switched state. In an actuating method, the actuating device is switched to the further switched state in response to an actuation.

Actuating device and method for a vehicle parking brake

A valve unit for an electro-pneumatic brake control is connected to an input of an air-quantity-boosting valve for the aeration/venting thereof. A double-armature solenoid valve includes primary and secondary armatures each spring-loaded and actuated by a common magnet coil. The primary armature is a switch for a vent valve; the secondary armature is a switch for an intake valve. When the coil is not drawing current, the armatures are in spring-loaded position, the intake valve blocking intake and the vent valve venting. When a first current flows through the coil, the primary armature enters switching position, with the secondary armature in spring-loaded position; the intake valve blocking intake and the vent valve blocking venting. When a second current greater than the first flows through the coil, both primary and secondary armatures are moved into switching positions, so that the intake valve admits air and the vent valve blocks venting.

Valve unit for an electro-pneumatic brake control device for controlling a parking brake

A pneumatic vehicle brake system includes first and second groups of wheel brakes belonging, respectively, to first and second brake circuits having first and second compressed air storage tanks for providing first and second stored pressures. At least one first circuit brake cylinder is a combined spring-store/diaphragm cylinder with a spring store part for providing a parking brake and a diaphragm part for providing a service brake. If the first circuit fails, the spring store part is deaerated to engage the parking brake. A pressure sensor for measuring the first stored pressure is connected to a control unit that controls a modulator for aerating and deaerating the spring store part. The control unit generates a signal for an electrically actuatable modulator solenoid valve if the value measured by the sensor falls below a minimum value, such that the spring store part can be aerated and deaerated via the valve.

Pneumatic vehicle brake system and control method

An electro-pneumatic brake control device is provided for controlling the parking brake of a vehicle having compressed-air-actuated brake cylinders, at least one of which is a spring brake cylinder with a spring store part. Valve devices place the brake control device into various operating states. In a first operating state, the valve devices are at least partially supplied with current and switched such that a compressed air line to the spring store part of the spring brake cylinder is aerated. In a second state, the valve devices are at least partially supplied with current and switched such that the compressed air line is deaerated. In a third state, which can be activated in the event of failure of the electrical energy supply of the brake control device, the valve devices are switched to a currentless state such that the compressed air line is automatically deaerated in throttled manner.

Electro-pneumatic brake control device

An electropneumatic brake control device for controlling an air-quantity-boosting valve device which controls a parking brake of a vehicle. A valve unit is provided that has a vent valve for venting a control input of the air-quantity-boosting valve device. The vent valve has three states. In a first state, the control input of the air-quantity-boosting valve device can be vented in a throttled manner by using an aperture. In a second state, the control input of the air-quantity-boosting valve device cannot be vented. In a third state, the control input of the air-quantity-boosting valve device can finally be vented in an unthrottled manner.

Valve unit for a brake control device

A valve unit for an electro-pneumatic brake control device for controlling a parking brake of a vehicle includes at least one air-quantity-boosting valve device for aerating and venting at least one spring brake cylinder of the parking brake and at least one electrically actuatable control valve for controlling the air-quantity-boosting valve device. To simplify the construction of the brake control device, the air-quantity-boosting valve device and the control valve are integrated in a common integral valve block.

Valve unit for an electro-pneumatic brake control device

An electrically controlled brake system for a tractor is provided that is equipped with an anti-jackknifing brake that can be actuated by means of a manual operating element and that acts only on the brakes of a trailer coupled to the tractor. The operating element is an electrical element which generates an electrical signal to control a valve device by means of which the braking force of the anti-jackknifing brake can be increased.

Electrically controlled brake system

A solenoid-valve unit for an electropneumatic controller, especially a pilot-control unit of an electropneumatic pressure modulator of a vehicle, includes a solenoid-valve unit having a valve-housing bottom with compressed-air bores, and solenoid valves having solenoids and displaceable magnet armatures. The solenoids are disposed outside of the valve-housing bottom. At least one pressure sensor for measuring pneumatic pressure in a compressed-air bore of the valve-housing bottom is placed in or on the valve-housing bottom. Electric leads to the solenoids and to the pressure sensor are routed to a common electrical interface.
