A superconducting fiber bundle includes carrier material formed by fibers of carbon, silicon carbide, steel, boron or glass. The fibers have a superconducting coating formed of a superconducting, non-metallic, inorganic material. The coating of the fibers is carried out from the liquid phase or the gas phase.

Fiber bundle and method for producing the same

A high temperature protective coating formed by an alloy on the basis of nickel, cobalt, chromium, aluminum and also frequently of yttrium. There is improved adherence of the metallic oxide covering layer which forms on the protective coating and increased the oxidation and corrosion resistance. Silicon may be admixed to the alloy as a first addition. The amount of the silicon to be admixed to the alloy lies between 1 and 3% by weight. The oxidation and corrosion resistance can be increased by means of a further addition of zirconium in an amount of 1% by weight. The same results can be obtained by a further addition of tantalum, also in the amount of 1% by weight.

High temperature protective coating

A shunting element includes two terminal elements for bridging an electrical component, at least one semiconductor component, and at least one electrically conducting layer connecting the semiconductor component to the two terminal elements, the electrically conducting layer being alloyed with the semiconductor component to form a shorting element upon the passage of a current which increases the temperature in the electrically conducting layer and in the semiconductor component to a given value.

Components (5) in a superalloy, in particular a dispersion hardened nickel based alloy, are connected together by pressure bonding in the solid condition with the greatest possible limitation of the overall deformation of the complete components (5) by lateral restraint (7), the actual bonding zone (6) having short-term intensive dynamic plastic flow imposed on it and, taking account of the deformation temperature, the local deformation rate .epsilon..sub.l and the local deformation .epsilon..sub.l referred to the bonding zone (6) are matched together in such a way that the driving force during the subsequent heat treatment of the complete workpiece above the recrystallization temperature is sufficient to force the formation of coarse grain under all conditions. Method for connecting superalloy components

Method for the metallic joining of parts which are formed by semiconductor components with metallization on at least one side or by metallic components or metallic substrates. A composite multilayer material is arranged between the parts to be joined together. Subsequently, the components are joined together at least under the action of defined heat such that only the surface layers directly facing the parts of the composite material are softened.

Method and connecting material for the metallic joining of parts

A metallic joining material which is provided particularly for the joining of parts of oxide-dispersion-hardened alloys. The metallic joining material in particular is a solder which contains chromium, cobalt, boron, silicon, tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, aluminum, titanium zirconium with the remainder nickel.

Method for bonding metallic structural elements to form a component, in particular for stationary gas turbines, wherein at least one intermediate layer with a defined thickness is located between the structural elements and is heated together with the structural elements to a temperature which can be specified in advance, and pressure of a magnitude which can be specified in advance is exerted on the structural elements before or after this heating. The temperature and the pressure are maintained sufficiently long that isothermal solidification of the intermediate layer and/or of the alloying material of the structural elements is attained in the joint zone.

Method for bonding metallic structural elements

The invention relates to a joining method for the production of a component from two or more constructional elements which are manufactured from a highly distortion-resistant metallic material, in particular a material based on nickel or iron. The constructional elements and the interlayer are manufactured from an oxide dispersion-hardened material, and are joined together with insertion of the interlayer to give the component. The interlayer is in an unrecrystallized fine-grained plastic state before the joining process, and undergoes recrystallization, as a result of heat treatment, only after the joining process, which is carried out at a temperature of 800 to 1,100 degrees centigrade and under a pressure of 1 to 200 Mpa.

Joining method

In order to join by welding shaped parts, in particular, of cast superalloys based on nickel or cobalt, without cracking, by means of a beam of energy, preferably an electron beam, according to the invention the weld zone and an adjacent area of adequate size, often the entire part, are heated to a preheat temperature between 1000.degree. to 1250.degree. C., preferably between 1070.degree. and 1180.degree. C., and maintained at this temperature at least until the temperature is at least extensively equalized. The weld surfaces in contact with each other are then melted and welded together by means of the energy beam. Subsequently, the weld zone and the adjacent area are cooled uniformly. In this manner, a welded joint is obtained having mechanical properties that are equal to or only slightly reduced compared to those of the initial material and containing no pores or cracks. The process according to the invention is particularly suitable for the production or repair of hot parts of gas or steam turbines, such as, for example, turbine blades and/or turbine housings.
